Ion-exchange chromatography (IEC) is a versatile separation technique for profiling the charge heterogeneity of biotherapeutic proteins, including monoclonal antibodies. Despite good resolving power and robustness, ionic-strength-based ion-exchange separations are product specific and time consuming to develop. Although salt gradients are more commonly applied, the utilization of pH gradients c...

The present study is aimed to develop dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DXM) oral disintegrating tablets (ODT) with acceptable palatability to help patients of all age groups. The bitter taste of the drug was masked by binding the drug to ion exchange resin. The effect of the particle size of resin on drug loading was studied. In vitro and in vivo disintegration time and in vitro drug release stud...

Bauxite residue is an important by-product of the alumina industry, and current management practices do not allow their full valorisation, especially with regard to the recovery of critical metals. This work aims to test the efficiency of ion exchange resins for vanadium (V) removal and recovery from bauxite residue leachates at alkaline pH (11.5 and 13). As an environmental pollutant, removal ...

Three chelating ion-exchange resins based on macroreticular polyacrylonitrile-divinylbenzene copolymers with thioglycollic acid and cysteine as functional groups have been tested for separation of molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI). On a short column of the thioglycollic acid resin, molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) can be selectively sorbed from pH-4.3 acetate buffer and eluted with 2M hydrochloric...

A method for the determination of arsenic species (arsenide, arsenate) in traditional Chinese medicines using hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS) with ion exchange resin separation has been studied. The ion exchange resin was used to separate the arsenide and arsenate, and the separation conditions were investigated. The experimental conditions that influence the fluore...

An improved enzymatic method for the synthesis of adenylysulfate (APS) from adenosine 5'-phosphate using APS-reductase from Thiobacillus denitrificans is described. Isolation of millimole quantitities of this sulfur nucleotide is achieved rapidly by means of ion exchange chromatography on a strongly basic ion exchange resin. A facile and reproducible desalting procedure is described.

Although ion-exchange resins have been used widely as drug delivery systems, their exact release kinetics has not been reported yet. Usually only the rate-limiting step has been taken into account and the rest of the steps have been ignored as instantaneous processes. To investigate the exact release kinetics of polymer-coated drug/ion-exchange resin complexes for sustained drug delivery, the r...

In order to combine the qualities of inorganic and organic ion exchangers, a stable material with good chromatographic properties, a new inorganic-organic ion exchanger Titanium (IV) phosphosulphosalicylate(TiPSS) was synthesized. Sample-1 was chosen for detailed ion exchange studies due to its highest ion exchange capacity, good appearance and chemical stability. Characterization of the resin ...

Methods for separation of ions by ion-exchange, ion-pair, and zwitterion ion chromatography share at least one common thread--the induced formation of a cation-anion pair in the stationary phase. Selectivity can be defined as the relative ability of sample ions to form such a pair. Examples are given in anion-exchange chromatography to show the effect of variations in the geometry, bulkiness an...

Novel three-dimensional sulfur-doped graphene networks were synthesized using an ion-exchange/activation combination method using a 732-type sulfonic acid ion exchange resin as the carbon precursor, which showed high electrocatalytic activity, good stability and excellent methanol tolerance for four-electron oxygen reduction in alkaline solution.
