In the title polymeric complex, [Ni(C(2)H(6)NO(3)S)(2)](n), the Ni(II) ion occupies a special position on an inversion centre and displays a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, being linked to four sulfonate O atoms and to two N atoms of the taurine ligands. The sulfonate groups doubly bridge symmetry-related Ni(II) centers, forming polymeric chains along the a axis.

In the title α-D-glucopyran-oside derivative, C(28)H(30)O(10)S(2), each heterocyclic ring adopts a chair conformation. In the tri-substituted ring, the meth-oxy and one sulfonate group occupy axial positions, whereas the second sulfonate group occupies an axial position. The phenyl group on the other ring is in an equatorial position. In the crystal, supra-molecular chains propagating along [10...

Sodium polyanethol sulfonate inhibits aminoglycoside and polymyxin classes of antibiotics in direct proportion to its concentration. Aminoglycoside and polymyxin class antibiotics are selectively inactivated; penicillin, including the semisynthetic penicillins, cephalothin, chloramphenicol, clindamycin, tetracycline, erythromycin, and vancomycin are not inhibited. By incorporating sodium polyan...

Sodium or calcium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate or analog) is an ion-exchange resin commonly used to treat hyperkalaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. It is known to cause digestive complications, such as nausea, vomiting and constipation. Although rare, colonic necrosis and perforation are very severe complications associated with the medication. In this case report, we present ...

In the title compound, [Na(C(6)H(3)Cl(2)O(3)S)(H(2)O)](n), the Na(I) ion is penta-coordinated by three dichloro-benzene-sulfonate anions and two water mol-ecules, forming a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Na(I) ions are bridged by the sulfonate groups and the water mol-ecules, leading to a polymeric layer structure parallel to the bc plane in which O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed.

The title compound, C15H18NO3PS·C6H6, is a rare example of a crystallographically characterized exocyclic phosphiniminium-arene-sulfonate zwitterion, which crystallises as its benzene solvate. The crystal structure shows that the N atom is protonated and that the iminium H atom forms both intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the single-bonded sulfonate O atom in an R 2 (2)(4) graph-set ...

Tuning the physical-chemical properties of Polypyrrole (PPy) opens up potentially exciting new applications, especially in the area of bacterial adhesion. Polypyrrole is electrochemically synthesised under various conditions and the physical properties of the films and their effects on bacterial adhesion characterised. Five types of dopants, chloride (Cl), Perchlorate (ClO4), pToluene-sulfonate...

Five conspicuous indole derivatives are present in leaves and other tissues of woad (Isatis tinctoria L.). They were identified as tryptophan, isatan B, glucobrassicin, neoglucobrassicin, and glucobrassicin-1-sulfonate. The latter three indole glucosinolates are present at levels of at least 260, 69, and 200 milligrams per kilogram fresh weight and were isolated as crystalline salts. Comparison...

2,5-Bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thia-diazole (denoted L) has been found to act as a bidentate ligand in the monomeric title complex, [Cu(CF(3)O(3)S)(C(12)H(8)N(4)S)(2)(H(2)O)](CF(3)O(3)S). The complex shows a distorted octahedrally coordinated copper(II) cation which is linked to two thia-diazole ligands, one water mol-ecule and one trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anion. The second trifluoro-methane-su...

Dietary intake, age, gender, and body mass index were investigated as possible predictors of perfluorinated compounds in a study population from northern Norway (44 women and 16 men). In addition to donating a blood sample, the participants answered a detailed questionnaire about diet and lifestyle. Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) (29 ng/mL), perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) (3.9 ng/mL), perfluorohex...
