In this work, we developed a novel light-up nanocluster beacon (NCB) based on shuttling dark silver nanoclusters (NCs) to a bright scaffold through hybridization. The fluorescence enhancement was as high as 70-fold when the two templates were on the opposite sides of the duplexes, enabling sensitive and selective detection of DNA.

An active, recoverable, and recyclable nanocluster catalyst, Au25(SR)18(-), has been developed to catalyze the formation of α,β-unsaturated ketones or aldehydes from propargylic acetates. The catalytic process has been proposed to be initialized by an SN2' addition of OH(-). Moreover, a dramatic solvent effect was observed, for which a rational explanation was provided.

Two unprecedented tetrameric selenotungstates based on different Wells-Dawson-type fragments have been obtained: the {Sn7Se8W54} nanocluster exhibiting photocatalytic H2 evolution activity and the {Sn16Se11W56} chain, which are the first dimethyltin-functionalized selenotungstates reported and contain the unique {β-Se2W15} and {γ-Se2W14} building blocks, respectively.
