Pasteuria penetrans is a mycelial, endospore-forming, bacterial parasite that has shown great potential as a biological control agent of root-knot nematodes. Considerable progress has been made during the last 10 years in understanding its biology and importance as an agent capable of effectively suppressing root-knot nematodes in field soil. The objective of this review is to summarize the cur...

Vermicompost singly and in binary combination with different biopesticide were used in agricultural field to control the infestation of nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) and high yield of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea) crop. Mixing of binary combination of vermicompost with neem oil (94%) in the soil caused significant reduction in M. incognita. The combination of garlic extract with different ...

Collectively, nematode parasites of domestic ruminants continue to pose the greatest disease problem in grazing livestock systems worldwide, despite the powerful and extensive chemotherapeutic arsenal available for their control. The widespread development of anthelmintic resistance, particularly in nematode parasites of small ruminants, and the trend towards non-chemical (ecological, organic, ...

This review examines the discovery of naturally occurring phytochemicals antagonistic toward plant-parasitic and other nematodes. Higher plants have yielded a broad spectrum of active compounds, including polythienyls, isothiocyanates, glucosinolates, cyanogenic glycosides, polyacetylenes, alkaloids, lipids, terpenoids, sesquiterpenoids, diterpenoids, quassinoids, steroids, triterpenoids, simpl...

The scale of the damage worldwide to human health, animal health and agricultural crops resulting from parasitic nematodes, together with the paucity of treatments and the threat of developing resistance to the limited set of widely-deployed chemical tools, underlines the urgent need to develop novel drugs and chemicals to control nematode parasites. Robust chemical screens which can be automat...

The root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita was controlled more effectively and yields of host plants were greater when Paecilomyces lilacinus and Pasteuria penetrans were applied together in field microplots than when either was applied alone. Yields of winter vetch from microplots inoculated with the nematode and with both organisms were not statistically different from yields from uninocula...

The taxonomically uncharacterized nematophagous fungus ARF18, which parasitizes cysts, juveniles, and adults of the soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines), was proposed as a nematode biological control agent in 1991. A 46.3-Mb draft genome sequence of this fungus is presented, and a tentative taxonomic identification as a novel species of Brachyphoris is proposed.

Sugar beet cyst forming nematode (Heterodera schachtii) is one of the most important pathogens of the sugar beet in Iran. For biological control of Heterodera schachtii, 10 isolates of Trichoderma related to two species T. harzianum and T. virens were examined in laboratory and green house on eggs and cysts for two years. Results obtained from the laboratory assay showed that isolates of Tricho...

The present study is based on the investigation of a soil hyphomyces, Paecilomyces lilacinus, an opportunistic bio-control agent. The egg pathogenic fungus Paecilomyces lilacinus is a unique strain with a wide range of activity against the most important plant parasitic nematodes. The aim of this study to evaluate the efficiency of P. lilacinus on parasitic nematodes Meloidogyne javanica on tom...

Development of diseases in cultivated crops depends on the complex inter-relationship between host, pathogen and prevailing environmental conditions. The significant role nematodes development nematode–fungus interaction is demonstrated many throughout world. Therefore, main objectives this study were to evaluate Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici Meloidogyne incognita. experiment was laid o...
