Unprecedented open ended nitrogen doped carbon nanotubes prepared by direct pyrolysis of [Co(HTTG)(H(2)O)(2)](n) (TTG = N,N',N''-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyltris-glycine) show among the largest surface area of multiwalled nanotubes and high CO(2)/CH(4) adsorption selectivity which increases with increasing of nitrogen content.

Germanium (Ge) nanoparticle-multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) anodes are fabricated through the anchoring of Ge on the surface of electrophoretically pre-deposited MWCNT networks via a thermal evaporation process. This Ge-MWCNT nanocomposite displays a large reversible capacity of over 800 mA h g(-1) at 1 C even after 200 cycles.

Electrochemistry of cyclodextrins (CDs) and cyclodextrin inclusion complexes with different pharmaceutical compounds is reviewed. The article highlights some electrochemical investigations of the CD-drugs interactions in solution. Cyclodextrin modified electrodes and their applications as electrochemical sensors in pharmaceutical analysis based on the self-assembly of CD derivatives on metal el...

Nanofluids are the heat transfer fluids having remarkable thermal properties. The paper presents the experimental analysis of thermal conductivity, density, specific heat and viscosity of multiwalled carbon nanoparticles dispersed in water at various temperatures and particle concentrations. To examine the forced convection heat transfer of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT)-water nanofluid, ...

We present the fabrication of lipid nanoscaffolds inside carbon nanotube arrays by employing the nanostructural self-assembly of lipid molecules. The nanoscaffolds are finely tunable into model biomembrane-like architectures (planar), soft nanochannels (cylindrical) or 3-dimensionally ordered continuous bilayer structures (cubic). Carbon nanotube arrays hosting the above nanoscaffolds are forme...

monometallic and bimetallic ni and co catalytic nanoparticles supported on titanium dioxide (rutile phase) substrate were prepared by wet impregnation method. these nanoparicles were used as catalysts for synthesis of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (mwcnts) from acetylene decomposition at 700°c by the catalytic chemical vapor deposition (ccvd) technique. the nanomaterials (catalyst and cnts) were...

We report the double functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotube electrodes by two functional pyrene molecules. In combination, an immobilized Ru(II)-based NADH oxidation catalyst and glucose dehydrogenase achieve highly efficient glucose oxidation with low overpotential of -0.10 V and high current densities of 6 mA cm(-2).

A simplified theory of the telescopic oscillations in multiwalled carbon nanotube is developed. The explicit expressions for the telescopic force constants (longitudinal rigidity) and frequencies for telescopic oscillations are derived depending on interacting tubes diameters and lengths. The contribution of small-amplitude telescopic oscillations to low temperature characteristics of nanotubes...

We studied synthesis of Ni or Fe nanoparticle-loaded multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by pyrolyzing metal organic salts with CaH2, a very strong reductant. The use of CaH2 lowered the formation temperature of MWCNTs down to 400 °C without the use of toxic halogen-containing precursors and assistance of plasma.

Strong and versatile carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are finding new applications in improving conventional polymer-based fibers. Nanotube-reinforced composites could ultimately provide the foundation for a new class of strong and lightweight fibers with properties such as electrical and thermal conductivity unavailable in current fibers. A recent research has discovered that the best type of nanotube ...
