In this paper characterization on optical properties of silicon nanowire arrays has been made. Nanowire array has potential applications in solar cells. The effects of wire length and wavelength on the Transmission and reflection properties of nanowire arrays have been simulated. The analysis of simulated resulted has also been presented.

We have investigated electronic cooling of suspended nanowires with SINIS tunnel junction coolers. The suspended samples consist of a free standing nanowire suspended by four narrow (∼ 200 nm) bridges. We have compared two different cooler designs for cooling the suspended nanowire. We demonstrate that cooling of the nanowire is possible with a proper SINIS cooler design.

By combining supercritical drying technique with AAO template-assisted electrodeposition, noncollapsed, vertically aligned, and free-standing nanowire arrays on a conductive Au film have been fabricated. We also demonstrate that these free-standing nanowire arrays can be feasibly used for fabricating nanowire-based electrically driven devices.

Silver nanowire transparent electrodes have received much attention as a replacement for indium tin oxide, particularly in organic solar cells. In this paper, we show that when silver nanowire electrodes conduct current at levels encountered in organic solar cells, the electrodes can fail in as little as 2 days. Electrode failure is caused by Joule heating which causes the nanowires to breakup ...

This paper presents device simulations on the vertical silicon nanowire tunneling FET (VSiNW TFET). Simulations show that a narrow nanowire and thin gate oxide is required for good performance, which is expected even for conventional MOSFETs. The gate length also needs to be more than the nanowire diameter to prevent short channel effects. An effect more unique to TFET is the need for abrupt so...

We report optical experiments of a charge tunable, single nanowire quantum dot subject to an electric field tuned by two independent voltages. First, we control tunneling events through an applied electric field along the nanowire growth direction. Second, we modify the chemical potential in the nanowire with a back-gate. We combine these two field-effects to isolate a single electron and indep...

Superconducting nanowire single photon detectors have been realized using an innovative photon induced cascade switch of parallel nanowires. We demonstrate that this configuration allows, at the same time, a fast response and a large active area, with the additional advantage of signal pulses with a larger signal to noise ratio. These improvements are obtained maintaining the good quantum effic...

We have studied the resistance of two-dimensional random percolating networks zero-width metallic nanowires (rings or sticks). toke into account nanowire per unit length, junction (nanowire/nanowire contact) resistance, and busbar/nanowire contact resistance. Using a mean-field approximation (MFA), we derived total nanoring-based as function their geometrical physical parameters. proposed way a...

The quality of lattice-mismatched semiconductor heterojunctions is often limited by the presence of misfit dislocations. Nanowire geometries offer the promise of creating highly mismatched, yet dislocation free heterojunctions. A simple model, based upon the critical thickness model of Matthews and Blakeslee for misfit dislocation formation in planar heterostructures, illustrates that there exi...

We show that a nanoparticle can serve as an efficient antenna for coupling of visible light into propagating plasmons of an Ag nanowire. For long wires, the coupling is maximal for incident light polarized perpendicular to the nanowire. For sub-10-mum nanowires, the polarization corresponding to maximum emission from the ends of the nanowire was found to be strongly dependent on the nanowire ge...
