Aeromonas caviae is a Gram-negative, motile and rod-shaped facultative anaerobe that is increasingly being recognized as a cause of diarrhea in children. Here we present the first genome sequence of an A. caviae strain that was isolated as the sole pathogen from a child with profuse diarrhea.

Aeromonas species are ubiquitous water borne organisms and cause gastrointestinal infection in humans (Horneman et al., 2007). Aeromonas species comprises of mesophillic motile and psychrophilic nonmotile gram negative bacterium. Three distinctive gastroenteritis are caused by Aeromonas spp. (a) acute watery diarrhoea, (b) dysentery and (c) sub acute or chronic diarrhoea (Janda et al., 1998). A...

Aeromonas spp., opportunistic pathogens of humans and fish, are ubiquitous in the aquatic environment. Aeromonas hydrophila and Aeromonas caviae have increasingly been isolated from patients with gastroenteritis and superficial wound infections and the former also has been associated with hemorrhagic septicemia in fish. This is the first study to report Aeromonas occurrence and frequency of vir...

Outbreaks in fish of motile Aeromonad septicemia (MAS) caused by Aeromonas hydrophila have caused a great concern worldwide. Here, for the first time, we provide two complete genomes of epidemic A. hydrophila strains isolated in China. To gain an insight into the pathogenicity of epidemic A. hydrophila, we performed comparative genomic analyses of five epidemic strains belonging to sequence typ...

A eromonas species are Gram-negative, oxidasepositive rods in the family Aeromonadaceae. These organisms have been isolated from untreated drinking water and different types of foods particularly seafood and frozen chicken. Aeromonas species are recognized as agents of serious infections in immunocompromised individuals including septicemia in patients with hepatic cirrhosis with a rapidly fata...
