This article presents a comparative study of several methods of phrase break prediction, using the same labelled corpora. Some previous methods proposed in the literature are tested, mixing techniques to take advantage of their benefits. It is proposed an approach based on explicitly modelling the probability density function of the distance between breaks. The results have shown that data-driv...

We discuss \cascade mixing", where one particle mixture, say a B 0 , leads to another, say a K 0. A simple analysis is possible in the amplitude approach, which avoids \collapses of the wavefunction " and is explicitly covariant. Some novel possibilities , both of conceptual and perhaps of experimental interest, arise. For example, we explain how such processes can allow one to \tune", in princ...

We present an analysis of the decayD0→K+π− based on FOCUS data. From a sample of 234 signal events, we find a branching ratio of Γ(D →Kπ) Γ(D0→K−π+) = (0.429 − 0.061 ± 0.027)% under the assumptions of no mixing and no CP violation. Allowing for CP violation, we find a branching ratio of (0.429 ± 0.063 ± 0.028)% and a CP asymmetry of 0.18± 0.14± 0.04. The branching ratio for the case of mixing w...

We present a preliminary search for D-D mixing using the decays D → Kππ, additionally presenting Dalitz-plot distributions and a measurement of the branching ratio for this mode. A new tagging technique is used to produce the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed Dalitz plot, which in turn is used to motivate the method used for the D-mixing search. We analyze 230.4 fb of data collected from the BABAR dete...

This work presents an algorithm that is able to achieve novel spatialization effects on multitrack audio signals. It relies on a crossadaptive framework that dynamically maps the azimuth positions of each track’s time-frequency bins with the goal of reducing masking between source signals by dynamically separating them across space. The outputs of this system are compared to traditional panning...

[1] Micro-plastic marine debris is widely distributed in vast regions of the subtropical gyres and has emerged as a major open ocean pollutant. The fate and transport of plastic marine debris is governed by poorly understood geophysical processes, such as ocean mixing within the surface boundary layer. Based on profile observations and a one-dimensional column model, we demonstrate that plastic...

In view of the discovery potential associated with the future experiments of high-luminosity xed target facilities, B-meson factories and-charm factories, we highlight some typical signals of D 0-D 0 mixing and CP violation which are likely to show up in neutral D-meson decays to the semileptonic nal states, the hadronic CP eigenstates, the hadronic non-CP eigenstates and the CP-forbidden state...

The shape complexity of irregular surfaces is quantified by a dimensionless area-volume measure. A joint distribution of shape complexity and size is found for level-set islands and lakes in twodimensional slices of the scalar field of liquid-phase turbulent jets, with complexity values increasing with size. A well-defined power law, over 3 decades in size (6 decades in area), is found for the ...

We investigate the possibility of a large Bs-B̄s mixing phase in the context of grand unified theory (GUT) models, e.g., SO(10) and SU(5). In these models, we find that a large phase of Bs mixing is correlated with Br(b → sγ), Br(τ → μγ) and Br(Bs → μμ) for large tanβ. In the case of the SO(10) model, the large phase of Bs mixing is correlated with Br(b → sγ) and Br(Bs → μμ) and we find that a l...

The location of the unique supremum of a stationary process on an interval does not need to be uniformly distributed over that interval. We describe all possible distributions of the supremum location for a broad class of such stationary processes. We show that, in the strongly mixing case, this distribution does tend to the uniform in a certain sense as the length of the interval increases to ...
