The extraction of DNA for molecular analyses is often a limiting factor in terms of cost, time, and availability of skilled labor. Here the authors describe a simple extraction protocol for obtaining DNA from field and greenhouse grown plants. This method was optimized for sampling mature wild sorghum populations in remote areas of Ethiopia and young greenhouse grown seedlings for genetic studi...

The 70S genome of two RNA tumor viruses, murine sarcoma virus and avian myeloblastosis virus, binds to Millipore filters in buffer with high salt concentration and to glass fiber filters containing poly(U). These observations suggest that 70S RNA contains adenylic acid-rich sequences. When digested by pancreatic RNase, 70S RNA of murine sarcoma virus yielded poly(A) sequences that contain 91% a...

INTRODUCTION Since Pall-German stopped manufacturing ITLC-SG, it has become necessary to validate alternative stationary phases. OBJECTIVE To validate different stationary phases versus ITLC-SG Pall-Gelman in the determination of the radiochemical purity (RCP) of (111)In-pentetreotide ((111)In-Octreoscan) by planar chromatography. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted a case-control study, whic...

Chlorophyll-a is an essential climate variable. in situ measurements are usually used for the validation of satellite images. Previous intercomparisons have shown that there can be substantial differences between laboratories. In order to shed light on these differences, we arranged international chlorophyll-a with eight participating laboratories during 1–2 July 2021. We performed two dedicate...

Feeley and Pittman (Bull. World Health Organ. 28:347, 1963) speculated that a hemolysin (HL) destructive enzyme produced by El Tor vibrio at a late stage of growth lowers the HL titer. We proved the production of an HL-destructive factor (HDF) by strains of classical cholera and El Tor vibrio and established an in vitro method for quantitative titration of HDF. HL was prepared by growing a hemo...

We develop a theory of stratified $LM$-filters which generalizes the theory of stratified $L$-filters. Our stratification condition explicitly depends on a suitable mapping between the lattices $L$ and $M$. If $L$ and $M$ are identical and the mapping is the identity mapping, then we obtain the theory of stratified $L$-filters. Based on the stratified $LM$-filters, a general theory of lattice-v...

in this paper, gaussian and elliptic high pass filters are analyzed for image sharpening qualitatively and quantatively . the filters are implemented in frequency domain using matlab software. experiments are performed to compare the performance of both the filters ,processed images are presented. the results demonstrate that elliptic yields better results.
