Osteomas are benign osteogenic tumors that are composed of cancellous or compact bone. They are usually sessile tumours composed of dense sclerotic, well-formed bone projecting out from the cortical surface. They commonly occur in skull and facial bones, however, excluding the maxillary sinuses, the maxilla is a rare site for osteomas. Therefore, we aim to present a case of maxillary osteoma in...

Maxillary sinus floor augmentation procedure, aka sinus floor lift surgery, stand out within the universe of bone reconstruction given that the maxillary sinus is a closed cavity with favorable nutrition, which enables the use of biomaterials alone. Therefore, this study aimed to report and discuss the technical and biological peculiarities of Lumina-Porous® biomaterial alone in the maxillary s...

introduction: coverage of bone grafts is very important in reconstructive surgery. in edentulous alveolar ridges this coverage is particularly important for supporting dental prostheses. here we present the case of a patient with a large deficient maxillary anterior region that was reconstructed with a bilateral palatal submucosal periosteal connective tissue flap: a soft tissue reserve for upp...

A 60-year-old man with missing maxillary molar teeth received dental implant therapy for reconstruction of occlusion. Sinus floor elevation with autogenous bone graft consisting of iliac bone block and particulate cancellous bone and marrow (PCBM) was performed in the bilateral maxillary sinuses for implant placement. On the right side, bone height in the molar region was less than 2mm. Therefo...

PURPOSE An-organic bovine bone graft is a xenograft with the potential of bone formation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bone density using cone beam computed tomography scans around functional endosseous implant in the region of both augmented maxillary sinus with the an-organic bovine bone graft and the alveolar bone over which the graft was placed to provide space for the implants...

BACKGROUND Bone preservation is an essential issue in the context of last teeth extraction and complete edentulism. The intended treatment, whether a complete denture or an implant placement, is facilitated with a voluminous residual ridge. Bone resorption after multiple extractions has not been as well studied as the bone resorption that occurs after the extraction of a single tooth. Recent ad...

Background and Aims: Immediate implant placement following tooth extraction is a treatment with many advantages. Alveolar bone preservation after immediate implant, need minimum of 2 mm thickness in buccal bone plate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the thickness of buccal cortical bone of maxillary premolars by Cone Beam Computational Tomography (CBCT) technique. Materials and Methods: ...
