INTRODUCTION obesity in pregnancy has been associated with increased morbidity for the mother and fetus. OBJECTIVE to quantify the association between obesity in pregnancy with growth deviations of their newborn infants. METHODS a study of non-matched cases and controls was performed based on the Nuevo Civil Hospital of Guadalajara "Dr. Juan I Menchaca" 2012-2013. The dependent variables we...

Abstract. In this paper, we propose a uniaxial perfectly matched layer (PML) method for solving the time-harmonic scattering problems in two-layered media. The exterior region of the scatterer is divided into two half spaces by an infinite plane, on two sides of which the wave number takes different values. We surround the computational domain where the scattering field is interested by a PML l...

A method of analysis of 2D images using a generalized anisotropic wavelet basis, which includes the isotropic wavelet also, is discussed. Use of an elliptical “Mexican Hat” wavelet as a matched-filter is shown to detect and characterize elongated features at higher significance level and more detail compared to the use of an isotropic wavelet only. The method is particularly suited for study of...

Marine ice sheets are continental ice masses resting on bedrock below sea level. Their dynamics are similar to those of land-based ice sheets except that they must couple with the surrounding floating ice shelves at the grounding line, where the ice reaches a critical flotation thickness. In order to predict the evolution of the grounding line as a free boundary, two boundary conditions are req...

In this paper we consider iterative receiver techniques for the downlink in WCDMA systems (UMTS FDD mode). We start from the linear MMSE receiver (at symbol level), which is time-varying and hence too complex to implement. By applying polynomial expansion (PE) to the LMMSE receiver, an iterative soluton is obtained in which the complexity per iteration becomes comparable to twice that of the RA...

We update the constraints on anomalous dimension four t-b-W and t-t-Z couplings by using CLEO b → sγ and LEP/SLC precision Z-pole data. It is found that the data imposes very stringent bounds on them. Moreover, the 2σ pull from SM predictions of ALR(hadrons), Ab and AFB(b) have little chance of being explained by the strongly constrained anomalous couplings. Decision tasks often require the extraction of information from displays of quantitative data. This paper investigates how people extract information from any one of several common displays by analysing the match between display, decision task and data. We posit two kinds of activity: first, the formulation of an appropriate extraction strategy and second, the execution of that strategy. We the...

Friendly postconflict (PC) interactions between former opponents have been described for a large number of primate species held in captivity. We investigated conflict management behaviour for wild Hanuman langurs, Semnopithecus (Presbytis) entellus entellus, in India, using a large sample of over 6000 agonistic and affinitive interactions recorded in one one-male/multifemale troop and three all...

Dyadic or, more generally, polyadic life course sequences can be associated within dyads or polyads than between randomly assigned dyadic/polyadic member sequences, a phenomenon reflecting the principle of linked lives. In this article, I propose method U and V measures for quantifying assessing trajectories in sequence data. Specifically, compare distance members an observed dyad/polyad agains...

Dyadic interventions simultaneously engage both people with dementia (PWD) and their informal caregivers (ICGs). This scoping review study identified the strategies for engaging dyads, described perceptions of dyads on these strategies, reported attrition rates dyadic in literature. Articles published up to July 2020, reporting a PWD-ICG-dyads intervention were searched PubMed (Medline), PsycIn...
