A generalization of the regularized (in the sense of Cattt, Lions, Morel and Coll) Perona-Malik anisotropic diiusion equation is proposed for image analysis. We present a numerical method for solving the above nonlinear degenerate diiusion problem, together with existence and convergence results. Numerical experiments are disscussed.

We propose several new methods for solving the shapefrom-gradient problem, which are fast and robust to depth discontinuities. We replace the commonly used least squares by a functional inspired by the method of Perona and Malik, and we show how to adapt the fastest integration methods in order to minimize this functional.
