The type of Lasiocampa decolorata (KLUG, 1830), collected in 1820, was successfully barcoded to generate a 658bp COI-fragment after 194 years. The resulting molecular data allowed the description of two closely related species from Morocco: Lasiocampa hannae SPEIDEL, MOOSER & WITT sp. n. from the Anti Atlas and Lasiocampa editae SPEIDEL, MOOSER & WITT sp. n. from the High Atlas.

A new species, Fannia caucasica sp. nov., is described from localities in Georgia and Armenia between 1600 and 2200 m. In addition, previous literature on the genus Fannia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 in the Caucasus Mountains is reviewed, and records are given for 15 species from Armenia and Georgia, of which nine are new records for Armenia and seven are new records for Georgia.

Milne Edwards, 1830); A. quadrispinosa (K.H. Barnard, 1916); A. skoogi (Stebbing, 1922); A. spinifera (Mateus, 1962); and A. tricornuta (Shoemaker, 1920).
