Based on the integral theory, tension-free placement of a mid-urethral sling (MUS) for female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) has gained substantial popularity owing to the ease of the procedure and its effectiveness. Published series with long-term follow-up show continence rates after the MUS procedure ranging from 70% to 80%. Complication rates after MUS procedures are usually low. This re...

The incidence of parastomal hernias is probably 30% to 50%. Suture repair of a parastomal hernia or relocation of the stoma results in a high recurrence rate, whereas with mesh repair recurrence rates are lower. Several mesh repair techniques are used in open and laparoscopic surgery, but randomized trials comparing various techniques and with long-term follow-up are needed for better evidence.

Evidence on the effect of non-monetary incentives on response rates in observational longitudinal research is scarce. OBJECTIVES To study the impact of two strategies to enhance completeness and efficiency in observ...

Borderline ovarian tumors have an excellent prognosis. In stage I disease, no therapy in addition to surgery is needed, and conservation of ovarian tissue for future childbearing may be appropriate. In advanced stages, the use of adjuvant therapy has not consistently led to cures, and complications have been reported. A randomized study of no adjuvant therapy versus adjuvant treatment with long...
