Palk strait estuarine water was highly polluted by Cu, Fe, Pb, Zn and Hg. The study was carryout the interactions between heavy metals and microorganisms. The study area paying attention on the role of probiotic bacteria such as Bacillus cereus, Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Azotobacter vinelandii, and Lactobacillus sp. to remove the metals from polluted nine aquaculture ponds t...

The enterotoxins produced by Aeromonas hydrophila were examined for biological activity by the rabbit ileal loop and suckling mouse assays, as well as by elongation of CHO cells. Antigenic evaluation of the culture filtrates from various isolates of A. hydrophila was performed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with anti-cholera toxin and anti-Aeromonas enterotoxin. Heat stability data demons...

Aeromonas hydrophila 4AK4 produces poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBHHx) containing 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) and about 15 mol% 3-hydroxyhexanoate (3HHx) from dodecanoate. To study the factors affecting the monomer composition and PHBHHx content, genes encoding phasin (phaP), PHA synthase (phaC) and (R)-specific enoyl-CoA hydratase (phaJ) from Aeromonas punctata (formerly named A...

Two different representative recombinant clones encoding Aeromonas hydrophila lipases were found upon screening on tributyrin (phospholipase A1) and egg yolk agar (lecithinase-phospholipase C) plates of a cosmid-based genomic library of Aeromonas hydrophila AH-3 (serogroup O34) introduced into Escherichia coli DH5alpha. Subcloning, nucleotide sequencing, and in vitro-coupled transcription-trans...

Aeromonas species are widely distributed in aquatic environments and recent studies include the genus in the emergent pathogens group because of its frequent association with local and systemic infections in immunocompetent humans. Aiming to search for virulence genes in environmental strains of Aeromonas hydrophila and Aeromonas jandaei, we designed specific primers to detect act/hlyA/aer comp...

Mesophilic Aeromonas hydrophila strains of serotype O34 typically express smooth lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on their surface. A single mutation in the gene that codes for UDP N-acetylgalactosamine 4-epimerase (gne) confers the O(-) phenotype (LPS without O-antigen molecules) on a strain in serotypes O18 and O34, but not in serotypes O1 and O2. The gne gene is present in all the mesophilic Aeromon...

Aeromonas spp. are autochthonous in the aquatic ecosystem and some of them has been increasingly found, in patients with various diseases like enteritis, wound infection and even septicemia in amphibians, reptiles, frog, fish and in patients with impaired immunity. There are different virulence factors like aerolysin, hemolysins, cytotoxins, enterotoxins, proteolytic activity, lipolytic activit...

Aeromonas hydrophila species can be found in warm climates and can survive in different environments. They possess the ability to communicate within their populations, which is known as quorum sensing. In this work, we present the draft genome sequence of A. hydrophila M013, a bacterium isolated from a Malaysian tropical rainforest waterfall.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio cholerae showed a strong positive chemotactic response towards rum distillery wastewaters (mostos) and a high oxygen uptake rate in the presence of this complex substrate. Rum slops stimulated only motility in Aeromonas hydrophila and Escherichia coli. The A. hydrophila and E. coli isolates were unable to oxidize mostos significantly.
