An in-depth understanding of Na2Ti3O7 as a Na-ion battery anode is reported. The battery performance is enhanced by carbon coating, due to increased electronic conductivity and reduced solid electrolyte interphase formation. Ti(4+) reduction upon discharge is demonstrated using in situ XAS. The self-relaxation behaviour of the fully intercalated phase is revealed.
We developed a method for the in situ synthesis of an oligoamide coating on gold. The resultant surface chemical composition, wettability, and chemical nature were comparable to aromatic polyamide films used as reverse osmosis membranes. Hence, the oligoamide wafer may be used in adsorption/fouling studies as a surface mimetic of reverse osmosis membranes.
Organic-inorganic nanohybrids have been synthesized by in situ coating supramolecular nanotubular J-aggregates with helically wound silica ribbons, reflecting the J-aggregates' superstructure. The J-aggregates retain their morphology and optical properties in the nanohybrids, and display improved stability against elevated temperatures, chemical ambient and photo-bleaching.
