OBJECTIVES With rising quality of speech perception in cochlear implant users, the indication widens. Nowadays, cochlear implantation is reasonable even in vestibular schwannoma patients. Speech perception with a cochlear implant is in these patients as promising as in patients with sensorineural hearing loss. BACKGROUND Tibial fractures are the most common long bone fracture. The standard of care for the treatment of diaphyseal tibial fractures is an intramedullary nail (IMN). Implant removal is one of the most common procedures in bone and joint surgery, and criteria for implant removal are typically left to the treating surgeon. BACKGROUND The purpose of this computational modeling study was to compare the volume of glenoid bone removal required to implant 3 augmented component designs for management of B2 erosions. In addition, we assessed bone quality of the supporting bone directly beneath the implants by measuring bone density and porosity. METHODS Three augmented component designs—full-wedge, posterior-wedge, an...

The success of dental implants is based primarily on the extent of osseointegration. The failure of dental implants is not only due to biological factors, such as unsuccessful osseointegration or the presence of peri-implantitis, but may also result from technical complications. Fracture of the implant abutment screw can be a serious problem, as the fragment remaining inside the implant may pre...

Different factors have been proposed to play a role in the development and emergence of a periapical implant lesion. To date, there is no consensus on the etiology and therefore periapical lesions around dental implants are considered t...
