The ability of unicellular green algal species such as Chlamydomonas reinhardtii to produce hydrogen gas via iron-hydrogenase is well known. However, the oxygen-sensitive hydrogenase is closely linked to the photosynthetic chain in such a way that hydrogen and oxygen production need to be separated temporally for sustained photo-production. Under illumination, sulfur-deprivation has been shown ...

In this research, solar-drived integrated Hydrogen production (HP) using high-temperature steam electrolysis (HTSE) is thermodynamically evaluated. This system includes an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), Rankine cycle, Brayton cycle, solar tower, and High Temperature Steam Electrolysis (HTSE). Solar energy supplies thermal energy. This heat source is applied for generating power. This energy is us...

The formation of molecular hydrogen in the interstellar medium takes place on the surfaces of dust grains. Hydrogen molecules play a role in gasphase reactions that produce other molecules, some of which serve as coolants during gravitational collapse and star formation. Thus, the evaluation of the production rate of hydrogen molecules and its dependence on the physical conditions in the cloud ...

Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) have been used as photocatalysts for hydrogen production from water in the presence of a sacrificial electron donor. The relative importance of the linker geometry, the co-monomer linker length, and the degree of planarisation were studied with respect to the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate.

An investigation was made of various factors, both experimental and physiological, which influenced the formation of hydrogen gas by the heterocystous cyanobacterium Anabaena cylindrica B629 when incubated in both argon and air. A. cylindrica B629 produces hydrogen in air in the presence of carbon monoxide, acetylene, or both, with a short lag period. The rate of production in air at optimal co...

In this paper, a new power, heating and hydrogen cogeneration cycle from Sabalan geothermal two wells is proposed and analyzed. In the proposed system, a new double flash cycle and organic Rankine cycle are used for power production. A proton exchange membrane (PEM) is also used for hydrogen production and the domestic water heater is used for heating. The impacts of some design parameters, suc...

Variation in the hydrogen production rate was consistent with the succession of dominant bacteria during the batch fermentation process. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) of 16S rRNA genes and quantitative analysis of the hydA genes at both the DNA and mRNA levels confirmed that Clostridium perfringens was the most dominant hydrogen producer in the bioreactor.
