3 0 We present an improved de novo pipeline by combining long-range polymerase chain reaction (LR-PCR) 3 1 and capture hybridization for enriching mitochondrial DNA to high-throughput sequencing. We test a new 3 2 set of primers and hybridizing long-range library (LR-HY) with 112 mitochondrial genomes (MtG)

A packaged self-powered system by hybridizing nanogenerators (PSNGS) is demonstrated. The performance of the PSNGS is tested in a biofluid and used for powering an electronic thermometer. Select waterproof universal connectors are designed and fabricated for energy and signal transmission. This PSNGS and the connectors can significantly advance the development of self-powered implanted medical ...

Mating with a member of another species can seriously reduce an organism's fitness, so mechanisms ought to evolve to prevent it where hybridizing species meet. This old idea of 'reinforcement' has found new support in an elegant pair of studies of the ecological genetics of flower colour in an annual herb.

Investors and other contributors to stock exchange need a variety of tools, measures, and information in order to make decisions. One of the most common tools and criteria of decision makers is price-to earnings per share ratio. As a result, investors are in pursuit of ways to have a better assessment and forecast of price and dividends and get the highest returns on their investment. Previous ...

As demand for Education increases and diversifies, so does the difficulty of designing workable timetables for schools and academic institutions. Besides the intractability of the basic problem, there is an increasing variety of constraints that come into play. In this paper we present a hybrid of two metaheuristics (genetic algorithm and tabu search) to tackle the problem in its most general s...

We examined the arrangement of the mu heavy-chain immunoglobulin (Ig) genes in the leukemic blast cell DNA of 93 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). All cases met morphologic and cytochemical criteria for ALL, lacked detectable T cell surface antigens, and expressed HLA-DR (Ia) antigens. Eighty-three of the 93 patients (89%) were positive for the common acute lymphoblastic leukemi...

Functional brain imaging is a source of spatio-temporal data mining problems. A new framework hybridizing multi-objective and multimodal optimization is proposed to formalize these data mining problems, and addressed through Evolutionary Computation (EC). The merits of EC for spatio-temporal data mining are demonstrated as the approach facilitates the modelling of the experts’ requirements, and...

We investigated the phylogenetic distribution of the SPI-1 and SPI-2 pathogenicity islands in Salmonella spp. SPI-1 was present in representatives of all eight subspecific groups, but no SPI-2-hybridizing sequences were detected in group V (S. bongori). Our data suggest that SPI-2 was acquired by S. enterica after its split from S. bongori.

This article presents a simple label-free detection of nucleic acids by using Pt@mesoporousSiO2 as a "smart" reporter, whose pores are first capped by single-stranded (ss) probe DNA. The detection signal is then amplified using the TMB oxidation reaction catalysed by Pt NPs while hybridizing with the complementary ss target DNA, which makes the pores of mesoporous SiO2 open through hybridization.

For the first time the cDNA encoding a fire ant venom protein has been sequenced. Oligonucleotides were designed according to the amino acid sequence. The cDNA sequence was obtained by hybridizing these primers to mRNA and enhancement by the PCR technique. Comparison to the amino acid sequence of the venom protein shows a leader sequence 19 amino acids long.
