Background The ratio of the transmitral early inflow velocity (E wave) and the tissue Doppler mitral annular velocity (e’ wave) can be used to measure left atrial pressure on the echocardiographic examination. An elevated E/e’ (>15) on echo Doppler is an established measure of elevated LAP. Unlike echo, cardiac MRI (CMR) has no non-invasive measure of LAP. Normally both the atrioventricular val...

I read with interest the article by Sung and colleagues about tricuspid valve replacement [1]. I agree with the authors that their reported results, although better than others, are still unsatisfactory. I think tricuspid valve replacement is an unfavourable surgery rather than catastrophic. The most important question in these operations is when to replace and not to repair the tricuspid valve...

An echocardiographic pattern of normal tricuspid valve motion in a patient with tricuspid atresia, and pulmonic valve motion in a patient with transposition of the great vessels and pulmonary atresia were documented. The recordings of the valve motion resulted in an initial erroneous diagnosis. Although M-mode echocardiography is very useful for the initial diagnostic evaluation of critically i...

The number of reoperations for prosthetic valve replacement has increased in recent years due to the steady increase in life expectancy. However, reoperations are complex and require experience and skills. We report the case of a 69-year-old female with severe right heart failure who underwent tricuspid valve re-replacement 28 years after the initial tricuspid valve replacement. Cardiopulmonary...
