where Z = {Zn;n = 1, 2, . . .} is a non-degenerate, zero mean Gaussian process representing the noise and S = {Sn;n = 1, 2, . . .} and Y = {Yn;n = 1, 2, . . .} are stochastic processes representing input signals and output signals, respectively. The channel is with noiseless feedback, so Sn is a function of a message to be transmitted and the output signals Y1, . . . , Yn−1. The signal is subje...
In a previous paper [Bag and Hu, Phys. Rev. E 73, 061107 (2006)], we studied the mean lifetime (MLT) for the escape of a Brownian particle through an unstable limit cycle driven by multiplicative colored Gaussian and additive Gaussian white noises and found resonant activation (RA) behavior. In the present paper we switch from Gaussian to non-Gaussian multiplicative colored noise. We find that ...
This manuscript evaluates the behavior of classical feature point descriptors when they are used in images from long-wave infrared spectral band and compare them with the results obtained in the visible spectrum. Robustness to changes in rotation, scaling, blur, and additive noise are analyzed using a state of the art framework. Experimental results using a cross-spectral outdoor image data set...
We shall present in this paper the results of investigations on the perfor— mance of Linear Prediction (LP) analysis of speech when the signal is corrupted with additive white noise. In particular we shall discuss the effect of noise on various parameters derived from LP analysis. Theoretical justification for U 10 the observed results is given.
It is shown that the estimation of nonlinear distortions in the various circuits based on the measurement of the ratio of the dispersion and correlation functions does not depend on the level of additive noise acting on the input (or output) of nonlinear circuit. The proposed theoretical method is confirmed by experimental measurements.
In this work we address the problem of single-channel speech enhancement when the speech is corrupted by additive noise. The model presented here, called the Modified Phase Opponency (MPO) model, is based on the auditory PO model, proposed by Carney et. al., for detection of tones in noise. The PO model includes a physiologically realistic mechanism for processing the information in neural disc...
This paper presents Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) estimation of the spectral components of clean speech from the observed data noised by the additive background noise having Gaussian or non-Gaussian statistical distribution. In the proposed algorithm MAP estimator for the spectral components of clean signal is derived using Generalized Gaussian Distribution (GGD) function as a priori statistical m...
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is one of the most arising technologies for digital communication. An OFDM signal is the addition of many individual signals modulated over a group of orthogonal subcarriers with same bandwidth. Because of its high robustness against interference, this technology becomes fundamental for modern wireless standards. In the proposed paper, OFDM is implemen...
This paper introduces a class ofrobust lag-ksmoothersbased on simple low order Markov models for the Gaussian trend-like component of signal plus nonGaussian noise models. The kth order Markov models are of the kth difference form AkX t = €t where Llxt = Xt Xt-l and €t is a zero-mean white Gaussian noise process with variance <1;. The nominal additive noise is a zero-mean white Gaussian noise s...
We carried out a comparative analysis of the algorithms for detecting a rectangular impulse against Gaussian white noise under either authorized or unauthorized access to the transmitted data. We presupposed that for data transmission the binary communication system is used and that the useful information in the data is whether the signal is present or absent. The case is that unauthorized acce...
