Here, we describe the complete genome sequence of siphophage Shivani, a T5-like constituent phage in the therapeutic phage cocktail IntestiPhage developed for bacterial gastroenteritis. Shivani was isolated against a foodborne pathogen, Salmonella enterica, which is one of the leading causes of gastroenteritis.

Bacteriophages are ideal candidates for pathogen biocontrol to mitigate outbreaks of prevalent foodborne pathogens, such as Escherichia coli We identified a bacteriophage (AAPEc6) from wastewater that infects E. coli O45:H10. The AAPEc6 genome sequence shares 93% identity (with 92% coverage) to enterobacterial phage K1E (Sp6likevirus) in the Autographivirinae subfamily (Podoviridae).

Listeria monocytogenes is an opportunistic invasive foodborne pathogen. Here, we performed whole-genome sequencing of L. monocytogenes strain F4244 (serotype 4b) using Illumina sequencing. The sequence showed 94.5% identity with strain F2365, serotype 4b, and 90.6% with EGD-e, serotype 1/2a.

L. monocytogenes is a foodborne psychrotrophic bacterial pathogen of special importance for minimally processed foods. In this work, it was enumerated in samples of surubim fish by MPN technique. The population of L. monocytogenes was estimated as < 0.012 MPN/cm(2) in fresh and < 0.03 MPN/g in minimally processed fish.
