We establish an asymptotic stability result for Toda lattice soliton solutions, by making use of a linearized Bäcklund transformation whose domain has codimension one. Combining a linear stability result with a general theory of nonlinear stability by Friesecke and Pego for solitary waves in lattice equations, we conclude that all solitons in the Toda lattice are asymptotically stable in an exp...

We consider electrical transport properties of a molecular wire under the influence of time-dependent electromagnetic fields. A formalism based on Floquet theory is derived which allows one to calculate both the dc current through the molecular wire and the associated noise power. Approximations for the case of a weak wire-lead coupling are studied in detail.

We study the existence and stability of periodic travelling-wave solutions for generalized Benjamin-Bona-Mahony and Camassa-Holm equations. To prove orbital stability, we use the abstract results of Grillakis-Shatah-Strauss and the Floquet theory for periodic eigenvalue problems. Ultrafast materials science promises optical control of physical properties of solids. Continuous-wave circularly polarized laser driving was predicted to induce a light-matter coupled state with an energy gap and a quantum Hall effect, coined Floquet topological insulator. Whereas the envisioned Floquet topological insulator requires high-frequency pumping to obtain well-separated Floquet band...

We provide an overview of elliptic algebro-geometric solutions of the KdV and AKNS hierarchies, with special emphasis on Floquet theoretic and spectral theoretic methods. Our treatment includes an effective characterization of all stationary elliptic KdV and AKNS solutions based on a theory developed by Hermite and Picard.

Topological phases of matter have captured our imagination over the past few years, with tantalizing properties such as robust edge modes and exotic non-Abelian excitations, and potential applications ranging from semiconductor spintronics to topological quantum computation. Despite recent advancements in the field, our ability to control topological transitions remains limited, and usually req...

Our aim in this paper is twofold. Firstly, we develop a new asymptotic theory for Floquet exponents. We consider linear system of differential equations with time-periodic coefficient matrix. Assuming that the matrix depends analytically on small parameter, derive full expansion its Based this, prove only constant order exponents multiplicity higher than one will be perturbed linearly. The requ...

By a straightforward generalisation, we extend the work of Combescure [J. Stat. Phys. 59, 679 (1990)] from rank-1 to rank-N perturbations. The requirement for the Floquet operator to be pure point is established and compared to that in Combescure. The result matches that in McCaw and McKellar [J. Math. Phys. 46, 032108 (2005)]. The method here is an alternative to that work. We show that if the...
