True isolated atherosclerotic aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery is a rare pathology. We report a case of ruptured superficial femoral artery aneurysms (SFAA) not associated with aortic, common femoral or popliteal artery aneurysms. An emergency surgical procedure was performed and, after endoaneurysmal branches ligation, a ePTFE graft interposition was performed. The literature review ...

INTRODUCTION Isolated aneurysm of common femoral artery is a rare occurrence. They may mimic other common conditions like groin lymph nodes or groin hernia. CASE PRESENTATION Here we present a case of 61-years-old Chinese gentleman who presented with a right groin lump, which was suspected to be groin hernia but turned out common femoral artery aneurysm. The aneurysm was surgically excised an...

The contribution of the alpha-1B adrenergic receptor (AR) to vascular smooth muscle contraction has been assessed using a combination of immunological, molecular biological and pharmacological approaches. A subtype-selective antibody detected alpha-1B immunoreactivity in the medial layer of the aorta, caudal, femoral, iliac, mesenteric resistance, renal and superior mesenteric arteries. Recepto...

Spontaneous femoral artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare disease and reported cases are very few. Most of them are related to underlying pathology either atherosclerotic disease or connective tissue disease. We present a 29-year-old healthy man with two months history of a painful pulsating mass at the level of the lower right thigh without any previous history of trauma, surgery or puncture of the ...

Pseudoaneurysm and cellulitis of femoral artery is so prevalent among intravenous drug abusers. This condition is found more in European countries. However, it was reported in Iran as case reports since the late 2000s. Today more sever cases are seen because of combining pseudoaneurysm and cellulitis with autoimmune disease such as AIDS. In this report 14 cases are presented.

We encountered a patient with a large retroperitoneal hematoma due to rupture of a common femoral artery aneurysm. A 77-year-old man was transferred to our hospital with left groin pain and shock. Computed tomography demonstrated a large retroperitoneal hematoma involving the left iliofemoral segment with extravasation of contrast into the left groin from a ruptured left common femoral artery a...

Femoral artery is frequently accessed by radiologists and surgeons. Anatomical knowledge of the variations of femoral artery and its branches is therefore required to minimize complications. We report a case of bilateral variations in the branching pattern of femoral artery during routine dissection of lower limbs of a middle aged male cadaver. These variations may be due to the divergence in t...

BACKGROUND Femoral artery pseudoaneurysm following by cardiac catheterization is a serious groin complication requiring careful assessment and prompt intervention. AIMS Risk of femoral artery pseudoaneurysm is estimated at 0.6 to 17 following diagnostic and interventional procedures. METHODS The clinical usage of bedside ultrasonography as part of the physical examination by attending emerg...

A new technique to obtain a segment of the superficial femoral artery as an arterial conduit in young patients while an unobstructed peripheral blood flow is maintained by superficial femoral artery-deep femoral artery transposition is illustrated with two clinical examples. The explanted arterial autograft requires no replacement by another graft and provides a conduit of up to 10 cm in length...

I was trained with femoral catheterization techniques and found catheterization from the right radial artery to be a frustrating experience. Specialized catheters were of no avail in reducing excessive fluoroscopic time or providing the guide catheter support that I was accustomed to from the femoral approach. I nearly abandoned the radial technique. I then chose to cannulate the left radial ar...
