Hydrogen refueling stations are one of the key infrastructure components for hydrogen-fueled economy. Skid-mounted hydrogen (SHRSs) can be more easily commercialized due to their smaller footprints and lower costs compared stationary stations. The present work modeled explosions in a skid-mounted station predict overpressures hydrogen-air mixtures investigate protective effects different explos...
1. Introduction Implosion of surface waves and the resulting formation of a central vertical water jet happen often in nature; they also provide an important analogy for many physical phenomena. For example, when a heavy solid object impacts on a fluid surface, e.g. such as a meteoroid hitting the planet's ocean, a crater is created, which subsequently begins to pinch radially due to the pressu...
The fluid-structure interaction simulation of shock-loaded thin-walled structures requires numerical methods that can cope with large deformations as well as local topology changes. We present a robust level-set-based approach that integrates a Lagrangian thin-shell finite element solver with fracture and fragmentation capabilities into an Eulerian Cartesian fluid solver with embedded boundary ...
In this study, the capabilities of WAWEWATCH-III and MIKE21-SW for predicting the characteristics ofwind-generated waves in Hormuz Strait are evaluated. The numerical models have been set up using Input data including GFS wind with 5° spatial resolution and 6 hours time intervals, along with the ETOPO1 bathymetry data with 2 arc-minute spatial resolutions. The results of the two model simulatio...
By careful analysis of earthquake and explosion events’ seismic waves, four parameters: wave complex, spectral ratio, synthetic ratio and auto-correlation coefficient are extracted as wave features to form a sample set for classification of earthquake and explosion events. The correct recognition rate is used as indicator for assessing the performance of the implemented classifiers. The SVM cla...
We present here a highly efficient and accurate numerical scheme for initial and boundary value problems of a two-dimensional Boussinesq system which describes three-dimensional water waves over a moving and uneven bottom with surface pressure variation. The scheme is then used to study in details the waves generated from rectangular sources and the two-dimensional wave patterns.
We report experimental evidence of the propagating capillary solitary waves generated by a localized water surface perturbation. Solitons are formed at the air-water interface with a solid plunger and then propagate with velocities proportional to their amplitudes. The shape of the forward front of such solitons is independent of the plunger shape and is given by the hyperbolic secant profile. ...
A well balanced numerical scheme based on stationary waves for shallow water flows with arbitrary topography has been introduced by Thanh et al. [18]. The scheme was constructed so that it maintains equilibrium states and tests indicate that it is stable and fast. Applying the well-balanced scheme for the one-dimensional shallow water equations, we study the early shock waves propagation toward...
In this research, a deep explosion in the reservoir of a concrete gravity dam has simulated by the coupled Euler –Lagrange finite element method. The validity of explosion hydrodynamics pressure has compared with Taylor empirical formula. The surface sloshing not considered due to deep explosion. The dam and its retained water excited by detonating large explosive charges in deep water upstrea...
