In this paper, we proposed a new structural protective device based on a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) to protect ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) of an integrated circuit. The proposed device features latch-up immunity in a normal operation state by the low holding voltage of the existing SCR based PSD protective device. The proposed device was analyzed to figure out electrical characteristi...
Curvature Dependent Electrostatic Field in the Deformable MEMS Device: Stability and Optimal Control
Design and fabrication of electronic biosensors based on field-effect-transistor (FET) devices require understanding of interactions between semiconductor surfaces and organic biomolecules. From this perspective, we review practical considerations for electronic biosensors with emphasis on molecular passivation effects on FET device characteristics upon immobilization of organic molecules and a...
We report on the characterization of nanometer-scale torsional devices based on individual single-walled carbon nanotubes as the spring elements. The axial shear moduli of the nanotubes are obtained through modeling of device reaction to various amounts of applied electrostatic force and are compared to theoretical values.
In this work, we assess the usability of a virtual environment where the force of interaction between the electrostatic field around the molecule and a charge associated to the proxy of a haptic device can be felt. Feedbacks to user are provided in a multimodal visual and haptic way, and auxiliary information are also rendered.
Bulk-heterojunction PPV (poly(p-phenylene vinylene))-CdSe submicron fibers have been prepared by introducing electrostatic interaction between thioglycolic acid capped CdSe nanocrystals and PPV precursor, subsequently with electrospinning and thermal conversion. The photoconductive device on a single PPV-CdSe fiber showed notable photoresponse, good response speed, wavelength-sensitivity, and r...
Electro hydro dynamic (EHD) and electrostatic propulsion devices were developed in the 1920s by Thomas Townsend Brown. One such device, called a “lifter”, has no moving parts and, in the air, operates on electrical energy. It is a fashionable device and has a very simple structure, basically consisting of a narrow wire electrode and a large, flat one. However, it has a low ratio of propulsion f...
