The Nearest Individual Sampling Method is one of the distance sampling methods for estimating density, canopy cover and height of forest stands. Some distance sampling methods have more than one density estimator that may be skewed to the spatial pattern. Unless the stands of the trees under study have a random spatial pattern. Therefore, the purpose of this study was evaluating the effect of s...
Steel composites reinforced with alumina nanoparticles were prepared by powder metallurgy process. Samples containing two different amounts of carbon (0.35 and 0.55 wt.%) and 0-5 wt.% Al2O3 nanoparticles were fabricated by mixing, compacting and sintering of diffusion bonded Distaloy AE powder. The density, hardness and wear tests were performed on the prepared samples. Fu...
In this letter, we derive the cumulative density function (CDF) of the nearest neighbor and contact distance distributions of the Matérn cluster process (MCP) in R. These results will be useful in the performance analysis of many realworld wireless networks that exhibit inter-node attraction. Using these results, we concretely demonstrate that the contact distance of the MCP stochastically domi...
We present several natural notions of distance between spectral density functions of (discrete-time) random processes. They are motivated by certain filtering problems. First we quantify the degradation of performance of a predictor which is designed for a particular spectral density function and then used to predict the values of a random process having a different spectral density. The logari...
Modulated ionospheric heating experiments are performed with the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program facility in Gakona, Alaska, for the purpose of generating extremely low frequency (ELF) and very low frequency (VLF) waves. Observations are made at three different azimuths from the heating facility and at distances from 37 km to 99 km. The polarization of the observed waves is analy...
study of the effect of increasing markers density on the accuracy of genomic evaluation using rrblup
genomic selection is a method to predict the breeding values of individuals using a large number of single nucleotide polymorphism markers. the cost of the high-density marker panel genotyping is very high, which prevents the widely application of genomic selection. the present simulation study was carried out to evaluate the use of low to medium marker density panels to predict direct genomic ...
1.Distance sampling is a widely used technique for estimating the size or density of biological populations. Many distance sampling designs and most analyses use the software Distance.2.We briefly review distance sampling and its assumptions, outline the history, structure and capabilities of Distance, and provide hints on its use.3.Good survey design is a crucial prerequisite for obtaining rel...
In this paper we investigate a continuous-time MA (moving average) process (Xt)t≥0 sampled at an equally spaced time grid {∆,2∆, . . . ,n∆}, where the grid distance ∆ > 0 is fixed and n denotes the number of observations, in the frequency domain. We derive for the process (Xk∆)k∈N with finite second moments the asymptotic behavior of the periodogram and of the lag-window spectral density estima...
A system of two static quarks, at fixed distances r, and two light quarks is studied on an anisotropic lattice. Excitations by operators emphasizing quark or gluon degrees of freedom are examined. The maximum entropy method is applied in the spectral analysis. These simulations ultimately aim at learning about mechanisms of hadronic interaction.
