To investigate the effect of group gliding formation on hydrodynamic performance manta rays, numerical simulations were used to drag, lift and pressure distribution multiple rays in tandem, triangular diamond-shaped arrangements. The simulation results show that leader ray at head always suffers least most cases, companion tail drag. flow field shows drag reduction mainly comes from high low zo...

Cooling of gas turbine hot section components such as combustor liners, combustor transition pieces, turbine vanes (nozzles) and blades (buckets) is a critical task for improving the life and reliability of hotsection components. Conventional cooling techniques using air-film cooling, impingement jet cooling, and turbulators have significantly contributed to cooling enhancements in the past. Ho...

A powerful eigenfilter approach is proposed to determine the optimal coefficients of McClellan transformation. It can design arbitrary shape transformation contours to map from 1-D prototypes to 2-D FIR filters very effectively. This paper presents the design methods for 2-D fan filters with general slope and inclination angle, elliptically symmetric filters of arbitrary orientation, circularly...

T HE DECISION rendered by the Supreme Court in Diamond v. Chakrabarty1 allows the new science of biotechnology to come out of the closet and to take its place in the public domain with other scientific achievements that have, for better or for worse, shaped the industrial life of the United States. It is probable that the products which will result from this emerging science will affect each of...

Photonic structures in diamond are key to most of its application in quantum technology. Here, we demonstrate tapered nanowaveguides structured directly onto the diamond substrate hosting shallow-implanted nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers. By optimization based on simulations and precise experimental control of the geometry of these pillar-shaped nanowaveguides, we achieve a net photon flux up to ...

There are errors in identification steps 1a and 1b in the “Key to the families of Order Myliobatiformes” subsection of the Results. The correct step 1a is: Disc broad and laterally expanded with wing like pectoral fin, disc width more than 1.3 times disc length (Fig 5A & 5B). . .. . .2. The correct step 1b is: Disc not greatly expanded, diamond or round shaped, disc width less than 1.3 times di...

Employing ab initio calculations we predict that the magnetic states of hydrogenated diamond-shaped zigzag graphene quantum dots (GQDs), each exhibiting unique electronic structure, can be selectively tuned with gate voltage, through Stark or hybridization electric-field modulation of the spatial distribution and energy of the spin-polarized molecular orbitals, leading to transitions between th...

The title compound, [W(2)(C(12)H(10)As)(2)(CO)(8)], features a diamond-shaped W(2)As(2) core with a W-W distance of 3.0948 (7) Å. The coordination geometry for each W atom is based on a penta-gonal bipyramid within a As(2)C(4)W donor set, with carbonyl ligands defining the axial positions; the As atoms exist within distorted tetra-hedral C(2)W(2) donor sets.
