Vascular invasion is characteristic for follicular carcinoma of the thyroid and distant metastasis common. Spinal cord compression due to metastases differentiated as initial presentation an extremely rare condition. We report a case asymptomatic metastatic cancer which presented with spinal compression. This patient metastasized narrowing airway posed many challenges anesthetist.

Internal fixation of traumatic spinal injuries has been associated with spinal canal stenosis, spinal cord compression, and nerve root impingement. We present a case of spinal cord/cauda equina compression due to migration of intact, anchored thoracolumbar Luque rods into the spinal canal through a laminectomy defect, leading to neurologic complications 10 years after the original operation.

An invasive paraganglioma of the posterior mediastinum caused spinal cord compression in a 31 year old women. Electron microscopic examination of the paraganglioma invading the epidural space revealed numerous dense-cored granules in the cytoplasm of the tumour cells. We are reporting this case to present the ultrastructure of mediastinal paraganglioma, and to call attention to an unusual cause...

Three patients presented with hand wasting and weakness secondary to mid-cervical spinal cord compression. This was due to cervical spondylosis in two patients and a meningioma in one case. This phenomenon is probably similar to that seen with foramen magnum lesions and may be due to spinal cord ischemia distal to the compression, secondary to venous stasis.

Bone fluorosis due to high water fluoride contents is endemic in North Africa. Neurological complications as spinal cord compression at dorsal level are rare and unusual. Its outcome depends on early diagnosis and surgical treatment. The authors report a new case of spinal cord compression due to ossification of the yellow vertebral ligament in a patient with previously unknown bone fluorosis.

ALTHOUGH Paget's disease of bone commonly affects the vertebral column, it is rare for it to result in interference with spinal cord function. In an extensive search of the literature on the subject of spinal cord complications secondary to osteitis deformans, I have been unable to find any previously recorded instance of the disease affecting the atlas and axis vertebra and causing spinal cord...

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignancy of liver. Distant metastasis to various organs is well known. Skeletal metastasis is also reported to various locations. Vertebral metastasis has been reported mostly to thoracic spine. However, cervical spinal cord involvement leading to cord compression has been reported very rarely in literature. We present a case of 58-yea...

Introduction: The expression of neurotrophic factors, which cause increasing of the survival and regeneration of neurons, is changed in response to nerve injury. Cantharellus cibarius has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. So, the aim of present study was to determine the effects of hydro-alcoholic extract of Cantharellus cibarius on expression level of NT3 gene after sciatic nerve comp...

Two cases of spinal cord compression resulting from extramedullary haemopoiesis in patients with thalassaemia of intermediate clinical severity are reported. The association between mild thalassaemia with long survival and the risk of spinal cord compression from extramedullary haemopoietic deposits is emphasised.

BACKGROUND Not all patients with spinal cord compression due to cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) have clinical symptoms and signs. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the imaging findings in asymptomatic and symptomatic patients with CSM with mild to moderate cervical spinal cord compression. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective clinical study included 68 patients. Group A...
