In this report, we synthesized ordered coordination polymers using polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) as a building block. A POSS with eight carboxylic terminals was coordinated with copper ions at various temperatures, forming polymeric networks. This novel coordination polymer has a long-range ordered structure.

Polymerization of 1,4-diaminonaphthalene on various Cu substrates resulting in stereoselectively well-defined metal-organic coordination polymers is reported. By using different crystallographic planes (111), (110) and (100) of a Cu substrate the structure of the resulting coordination polymer was controlled.

The formation of one-dimensional coordination polymers of cyano-substituted porphyrin derivatives on Au(111) induced by thermal annealing is demonstrated by means of scanning tunnelling microscopy. The polymer is stabilised by an unusual threefold coordination motif mediated between an Au atom and the cyano groups of the porphyrin derivatives.

A coordination terpolymerization strategy is introduced to alter the connectivity within layers of a pillared-layer coordination polymer. Assembling two different dicarboxylate linkers around a metal cluster in the layer suppresses interpenetration while enabling formation of a rectangular 2D grid structure.

In the article, a novel fluorescent probe for the copper cation based on fluorescence quenching mechanism was designed. It exhibited high selectivity for Cu(II) over other common metal ions in aqueous media. Furthermore the coordination between Cu(II) and the organic molecule sensor fabricated an interesting 1D chain coordination polymer framework.

A new TPE based low molecular weight gelator (LMWG) which displays both AIE and MCIE phenomena in gel state has been synthesized. LMWG self-assembles to form 1D nanofibers which undergo morphology transformation to coordination polymer gel (CPG) nanotubes upon metal ion coordination. CPG shows enhanced mechanical stability along with tunable emission properties.

In the title coordination polymer, [FeCl(2)(C(32)H(22)N(4))](n), the Fe(II) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold axis and a distorted FeCl(2)N(2) tetra-hedral coordination geometry arises.
