I use a previously introduced mapping between the continuum per-colation model and the Potts uid to derive a mean eld theory of continuum percolation systems. This is done by introducing a new variational principle, the basis of which has to be taken, for now, as heuristic. The critical exponents obtained are = 1, = 1 and = 0:5, which are identical with the mean eld exponents of lattice percola...
We analyse the azimuthal decorrelation of ‘Mueller-Navelet’ dijets produced in the pp̄ collisions at Tevatron energies using a BFKL framework which incorporates dominant subleading effects. We show that these effects significantly reduce the decorrelation yet they are still insufficient to give satisfactory description of experimental data. However a good description of the data is obtained afte...
We analyze a mathematical model of a cognitive radio network introduced in Yemeni et al. (2016). Our analysis reveals several surprising features of the model. We explain some of these features using ideas from percolation theory and stochastic geometry.
The purpose of this paper is to provide an example of an empirical procedure for generating user-based cognitive and social cognitive models of tasks/problems/contexts that can be employed to create readily navigable link structures for virtuality-mediated communication and collaboration purposes. Employing a natural language, user-based method, this study describes patterns found across 128 in...
In this paper static and dynamic response of nanotweezers composed of two carbon nanotube (CNT) arms are investigated. Taking into account a continuum model and considering the electrostatic actuation as well as the presence of the van der Waals forces, the static nonlinear equations are solved by a step by step linearization and Galerkin projection method. Simulating the closing dynamics of a ...
This paper defines recordkeeping metadata and offers the concept of the Archival Multiverse and the Records Continuum Model as complementary frames within which research and development in recordkeeping metadata can be situated. To demonstrate the significant and evolving nature of this work and how it is situated within the Records Continuum, the paper first provides a brief overview of key ef...
Let r be a nonnegative real number. Attach a disc of radius r to infinitely many random points (including the origin). Lilypad percolation asks whether we can reach infinity from the origin by walking through ‘lilypads’, that is, moving from one disc to another only if the discs overlap. In this paper, we explain what we mean by infinitely many random points, giving a definition of a Poisson Ra...
Density functional theory is applied to ion-induced nucleation of polarizable multipolar molecules. The asymmetric nature of the ion–molecule interaction is shown to cause the sign preference in ion-induced nucleation. When the ion–molecule interaction is weak, the observed sign preference is consistent with that of the bare ion–molecule interaction potential and decreases with increasing super...
The study focused on problems, drivers and priorities for information architecture and management of electronic information, especially records, in the Swedish financial sector. In the theoretical framework it is stressed that in order to develop effective eservices in any type of organisation it is necessary to not only to focus on business and technological infrastructure, but also to develop...
Introduction. Recent personal information management literature has underlined the significance of the contextuality of personal information and its use. The present article discusses the applicability of the records continuum model and its generalisation, continuum thinking, as a theoretical framework for explicating the overlap and evolution of the diverse contexts of personal information and...
