Skřivanová V., Tůmová E., Englmaierová M., Chodová D., Skřivan M. (2017): Do rearing system and freerange stocking density affect meat quality of chickens fed feed mixture with rapeseed oil? Czech J. Anim. Sci., 62, 141−149. Recently, consumers have paid an attention to animal-friendly meat. The aim of the study was to evaluate the meat quality of breast muscles in indoor and free-range chicken...

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is a very large land unit and an important terrestrial ecosystem within the Eurasian continent. Because of the harsh climate associated with the high altitude, alpine meadows on the plateau are susceptible to degradation from overgrazing. For this region, and for other alpine meadow pastures internationally, there is a need to define the sustainable stocking rate, to...

HYPOTHESIS Surgical compression stockings measurably improve venous physiologic mechanisms, and stocking brands do not differ from one another. METHODS Eleven patients, (8 men and 3 women [mean age, 53 years]), were included. Six patients had primary venous insufficiency and 5 patients had secondary venous insufficiency; 5 patients were in CEAP class 4 and 6 were in CEAP class 5. Patients wer...

We quantified biomass and nutrient accumulation of Acacia dealbata Link and Eucalyptus globulus Labill. planted at stem densities of 5000 and 15000 ha 1 in a bioenergy plantation in Chile. We tested the hypotheses that species and stocking will not affect biomass or nutrient accumulation. Species and stocking did not affect biomass accumulation after five years; however, species and stocking di...

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of stocking density on growth performance, carcass yield, and immune status of a local chicken breed. In total, 840 one-day-old male Suqin yellow chickens were placed into 4-m(2) cages in groups of 50 (low), 70 (medium), or 90 (high) birds. Each treatment was represented by 4 replicates (cages). The cages measured 2.84 × 1.42 m; half of the are...

We consider acyclic supply chains under the full backorder assumption and reveal several simple yet unique properties. Most interestingly, we identify conditions for the best dedicated stocking policy to outperform the best shared stocking policy, and for an acyclic supply chain to be decomposable into a simpler network (e.g., tree). We specify ways to decompose them.

A 6-year study was conducted in tallgrass prairie to assess the effects of grazing management (cattle stocking densities and grazing systems) on plant community composition and diversity. Treatments included sites grazed season-long (May to October) at 3 stocking densities (3.8, 2.8, and 1.8 hectares per animal unit), ungrazed control sites, and sites under a late-season rest rotation grazing s...

The present study has revealed that, the temperature has a crucial role among the observed physiochemical parameters on the growth and survival of P. margaritifera spat. Instantaneous growth rates (IGRs) in DVM, APM and TWT were calculated and used to assess the variation in growth of spat reared with different feed mixtures (FM-1 8) of five diatoms and stocking densities (SD-10, 20 and 30). Am...
