SCK•CEN wants to fulfil a prominent role in the ADS field and is currently establishing a R&D programme to finalise the design of an ADS prototype. Therefore, the ADONIS system, initially intended for dedicated radioisotope production, was revisited to give birth to the Myrrha system. The need for ADS related R&D as well as the extension of current competencies within SCK•CEN and related instit...
The genus Commiphora (Burseraceae) with more than 150 plant species, is distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions, especially occurring in northeastern Africa, southern Arabia and India (Langenheim, 2003). The plants of Commiphora species are characterized as small trees or shrubs with spinescent branches, pale-gray bark and reddishbrown resinous exudates. The resinous exudates of the...
The barks of two endemic Commiphora species namely, Commiphora ornifolia (Balf.f.) Gillett and Commiphora parvifolia Engl., were collected from Soqotra Island in Yemen and their essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of both oils was investigated by GC and GC-MS. Moreover, the essential oils were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against two Gram-po...
Diaporthe ampelina was isolated as an endophytic fungus from the root of Commiphora wightii, a medicinal plant collected from Dhanvantri Vana, Bangalore University, Bangalore, India. The whole genome is 59 Mb, contains a total of 905 scaffolds, and has a G+C content of 51.74%. The genome sequence of D. ampelina shows a complete absence of lovastatin (an anticholesterol drug) gene cluster.

I reconstructed a phylogeny of 66 species and varieties of Bursera and 9 outgroup species using sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), the 5S non-transcribed region (5S-NTS), and the external transcribed region (ETS) of nuclear ribosomal DNA. This study extends a previously proposed parsimony-based phylogenetic study that used the ITS sequences of 57 Bursera species and five...
