We compare the solar and terrestrial bulk elemental compositions. We show that the Sun and Earth share the same refractory elemental abundances, and that, to first order, the Earth is a devolatilized piece of the Sun left over from the Sun’s formation. We discuss the advantages of an aluminium normalization for this comparison over the traditional silicon normalization.

To evaluate chemical compositions and heterogeneity of comonomer sequences in methyl methacrylate (MMA)-tert-butyl methacrylate (TBMA) copolymers, multivariate analysis was applied to the 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of the carbonyl, backbone quaternary and a-methyl carbons of the copolymers. A better linear relationship was found between the first principal component score and ...

Kidney stone analysis is the test done on the stone which cause problems when they block the flow of urine through or out of the kidneys. The stones cause severe pain and are also associated with morbidity and renal damage. There is also no clear understanding on the relative metabolic composition of renal calculi. Hence, the study is aimed to find out the chemical composition of it which can g...

Thirteen fatty acids were identified from the pulps of four Tunisian Ziziphus jujuba ecotypes (Sfax, Choutrana, Mahres and Mahdia), using capillary gaseous chromatography method. These oils presented 8.31% to 12.35% of dry weights. Compared to the other ecotypes, Mahres and Choutrana were the richest of the oleic acid. The palmitic acid was the most important compound of the Sfax ecotype. Unsat...

The Kub-e- Zar area is located about 75 Km in southeast of Semnan. Electron microprobe analyses of plagioclases of mafic microgranular enclaves and plutonic host rocks from Kuh-e-Zar area display that they have normal, oscillatory and reverse zoning, so that plagioclase cores of reverse zoning in enclaves have oligoclase and andesine compositions and their rims have andesine and laboradori...

Resistant Starch (RS) is one of nature’s most interesting bioactive compounds. There is a wide variety of starchy food plants in Thailand that are good sources of RS, but they have not been well studied. As such, this study was carried out to investigate the potential food source of RS. Twenty-two promising food plants were selected. The samples included (1) cereals comprised of five long grain...

This is the first report evaluating the relationship between the chemical compositions of cumin seeds (based on the analysis of the content of catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, proline, protein, terpenic compounds, alcohol/phenols, aldehydes, and epoxides) and the induction efficiency of somatic embryogenesis in two Iranian superior cumin landraces (Golestan and North Khorasan). Cotyledons isolat...

Isotopic compositions of reactants affect the rates of chemical and biochemical reactions. Usually it is assumed that heavy stable isotope enrichment leads to progressively slower reactions. Yet the effect of stable isotopes may be nonlinear, as exemplified by the "isotopic resonance" phenomenon. Since the isotopic compositions of other planets of Solar system, including Mars and Venus, are mar...
