Massive intracerebral hemorrhage is reported as a complication of cardiac catheterization with ergonovine administration. Possible mechanisms relating stroke to cardiac catheterization are reviewed. Patients who suffer neurologic deterioration after this procedure require prompt evaluation including computed tomography.
