The Azospirillum brasilense mutant strains FP8 and FP9, after treatment with nitrosoguanidine, showed a null Nif phenotype and were unable to use nitrate as their sole nitrogen source. Sequencing of the ntrC genes revealed single nucleotide mutations in the NtrC nucleotide-binding site. The phenotypes of these strains are discussed in relation to their genotypes.

A straightforward convergent synthesis has been carried out for the tetrasaccharide repeating unit of the O-specific cell wall lipopolysaccharide of the strain Sp7 of Azospirillum brasilense. The target tetrasaccharide has been synthesized from suitably protected monosaccharide intermediates in 42% overall yield in seven steps by using a [2 + 2] block glycosylation approach.

Abstract Endophytic bacteria have been reported to roles as biocontrol agents and plant growth promoters. The application of endophytic in the form mixed culture [consortia] will provide better effectiveness than when applied alone. This study aimed obtain a consortium that is effective biological control for purple blotch [ Alternariaporri ], promote yield shallots. research was arranged compl...

Soilless systems, such as hydroponics and aquaponics, are gaining popularity a sustainable alternative to traditional soil-based agriculture, aiming at maximizing plant productivity while minimizing resource use. Nonetheless, the absence of soil matrix poses challenges that require precise management nutrients, effective control salinity stress, proactive strategies master disease management. P...

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are beneficial bacteria which have the ability to colonize the roots and either promote plant growth through direct action or via biological control of plant diseases (Kloepper and Schroth 1978). They are associated with many plant species and are commonly present in varied environments. Strains with PGPR activity, belonging to genera Azoarcus, Azospi...

The genera Azospirillum, Skermanella and Rhodocista form a phylogenetic subgroup within the alfa subclass of Proteobacteria. Based on comparative 16S rRNA sequence analysis a nested set of new oligonucleotide probes was designed. It comprises probes for the whole genus cluster Azospirillum-Skermanella-Rhodocista, for the Azospirilli subcluster I including A. lipoferum, A. doebereinerae, A. larg...
