Event anisotropy is expected to have sensitivity to the early stage of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC. The possible formation of a quark gluon plasma (QGP) could affect how the initial anisotropy in the space coordinate is transferred into the momentum space for the final state. The anisotropy parameter (v2) is an amplitude of the 2nd harmonic parameter of the azimuthal distrib...

New measurements of short-range and long-range two-particle correlations, azimuthal anisotropy, and event-by-event fluctuations from the STAR experiment for √ s N N = 130 and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions are summarized. Striking evidence is presented for large, non-statistical fluctuations in mean transverse momentum. Descriptions of the data in terms of phenomenological source function models are ...
We present a study of elliptic flow (v 2) and two-particle azimuthal correlations of charged hadrons and high transverse momentum (p T) pions measured by the CERES experiment in Pb+Au collisions at √ s = 17 GeV. Azimuthal anisotropy v 2 increases linearly with p T to a value of 10% at p T = 1.5 GeV/c. Beyond this p T the slope decreases indicating a possible saturation at high p T. Two-pion azi...

The measurement of D-meson production in heavy-ion collisions at LHC energy provides insights into the mechanisms of interaction of charm quarks in the hot and dense medium formed in these collisions. ALICE results on the D-meson nuclear modification factor and azimuthal anisotropy in Pb–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV are presented.
Differential measurements of charged particle azimuthal anisotropy are presented for lead-lead collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, based on an integrated luminosity of approximately 8 μb−1. This anisotropy is characterized via a Fourier expansion of the distribution of charged particles in azimuthal angle relative to the reaction plane, with the coefficients vn de...
The anisotropy of the azimuthal distributions of charged particles produced in √ s NN = 2.76 TeV PbPb collisions is studied with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The elliptic anisotropy parameter, v 2 , defined as the second coefficient in a Fourier expansion of the particle invariant yields, is extracted using the event-plane method, two-and four-particle cumulants, and Lee-Yang zeros. The aniso...
