We propose to transfer quantum correlations from atoms to light by Raman scattering of a strong laser pulse on a spin-squeezed atomic sample. We prove that the emission is restricted to a single field mode which perfectly inherits the quantum correlations of the atomic system.

Using a simple on-the-spot approximation, we explore the parameter range in the (log(R), log(ne)) plane for which maser action in atomic hydrogen is present and briefly discuss how the borderlines of this region of strong population inversion arise. In particular we address the influence of radiative transfer on the population structure. We find that in normal HII regions no strong maser activi...

The advent of hybridoma technology in 1975 (1) represented a quantum leap in the field of tumor immunology. For the first time, B-lymphocytes from immunized hosts could be immor talized by means of fusion with drug selected non-immunoglobulin secretor murine myeloma cells. These fused cell products could then be cloned and propagated indefinitely. The super natant fluids of cultures from litera...

ATOMIC is an inexpensive O(gigabit) speed LAN built by USC/ISI. It is based upon Mosaic technology developed for fine-grain, message-passing, massively parallel computation. Each Mosaic processor is capable of routing variable length packets, while providing added value through simultaneous computing and buffering. ATOMIC adds a general routing capability to the native Mosaic wormhole routing t...

We investigate two classes of quantum control problems by using frequency-domain optimization algorithms in the context ultrafast laser systems. In first class problems, system model is known and a gradient-based algorithm applied for searching an optimal field to selectively robustly manipulate population transfer atomic rubidium. The other involves experimental with unknown model. this case, ...

Two-dimensional materials, such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, and phosphorene, can be used to construct van der Waals multilayer structures. This approach has shown potentials to produce new materials that combine novel properties of the participating individual layers. One key requirement for effectively harnessing emergent properties of these materials is electronic connectio...

The influence of the antiferromagnetic thickness and dilution on the training effect is investigated with the use of an atomistic model for the magnetic interaction for constant temperature. We analyze the phenomenology in both ferromagnet and antiferromagnet in terms of hysteresis loop quantities and stable spin populations during training. While for small antiferromagnetic layer thicknesses w...

The quantum information transfer between a single photon and a two-level atom is considered as a part of a quantum channel. The channel is a degradable channel even when there are decays of the atomic excited state and the single photon state, as far as the total excitation of the combined initial state does not exceed 1. The single letter formula for quantum capacity is obtained. Recent experi...

The interesting phenomena that may arise in the context of impurity states in a metal are well established. In certain parameter ranges there exist collective many-body states, which exhibit unusual low-energy behavior. In particular there appear resonances in the electronic spectral functions near the Fermi level associated with the screening of the spin of the impurity ~the Kondo effect! or w...

In this paper, the accumulation of heavy metals of Nickel (Ni) and Vanadium (V) was measured in habitat sediments, mangrove roots and leaves (Avicennia marina). Besides, the transfer of Ni and V from the sediment to root and to the leaves in Nayband Bay and Qeshm Island were studied. The samples were gathered by Systematic-random Sampling using selective transects at 16 stations at the end of m...
