The paper presents a rapid method of developing a shallow Arabic morphological analyzer. The analyzer will only be concerned with generating the possible roots of any given Arabic word. The analyzer is based on automatically derived rules and statistics. For evaluation, the analyzer is compared to a commercially available Arabic Morphological Analyzer.

The design and performance of a system for spotting handwritten Arabic words in scanned document images is presented. Three main components of the system are a word segmenter, a shape based matcher for words and a search interface. The user types in a query in English within a search window, the system finds the equivalent Arabic word, e.g., by dictionary look-up, locates word images in an inde...

The complexities of Arabic language in morphology, orthography and dialects makes sentiment analysis for Arabic more challenging. Also, text feature extraction from short messages like tweets, in order to gauge the sentiment, makes this task even more difficult. In recent years, deep neural networks were often employed and showed very good results in sentiment classification and natural languag...

Many unsupervised learning techniques have been proposed to obtain meaningful representations of words from text. In this study, we evaluate these various techniques when used to generate Arabic word embeddings. We first build a benchmark for the Arabic language that can be utilized to perform intrinsic evaluation of different word embeddings. We then perform additional extrinsic evaluations of...

Despite of the decent development of the pattern recognition science applications in the last decade of the twentieth century and this century, text recognition remains one of the most important problems in pattern recognition. To the best of our knowledge, little work has been done in the area of Arabic text recognition compared with those for Latin, Chins and Japanese text. The main difficult...

The time course and cortical basis of reading comprehension were studied using magnetoencephalography. The cortical structures implicated most consistently with comprehension were located in the immediate vicinity of the left auditory cortex, where final words totally inappropriate to the overall sentence context evoked enduring activation starting approximately 250 ms and lasting up to 600 ms ...

Language modelling for a morphologically complex language such as Arabic is a challenging task. Its agglutinative structure results in data sparsity problems and high out-of-vocabulary rates. In this work these problems are tackled by applying the MADA tools to the Arabic text. In addition to morphological decomposition, MADA performs context-dependent stem-normalisation. Thus, if word-level sy...

Morphological analysis of Arabic words allows decreasing the storage requirements of the Arabic dictionaries, more efficient encoding of diacritical Arabic text, faster spelling and efficient Optical character recognition. All these factors allow efficient storage and archival of multilingual digital libraries that include Arabic texts. This paper presents a lossless compression algorithm based...

It is impossible to perform root-based searching, concordancing, and grammar checking in Arabic without a method to match words with roots and vice versa. A comprehensive word list is essential for incremental searching, predictive SMS messaging, and spell checking, but due to the derivational and inflectional nature of Arabic, a comprehensive word list is taxing on storage space and access spe...

The ambition of a character recognition system is to transform a text document typed on paper into a digital format that can be manipulated by word processor software Unlike other languages, Arabic has unique features, while other language doesn’t have, from this language these are seven or eight language such as ordo, jewie and Persian writing, Arabic has twenty eight letters, each of which ca...
