A realistic two-center shell model for fusion is proposed, which is based on two spherical Woods-Saxon potentials and the potential separable expansion method. This model describes the single-particle motion in a fusing system. A technique for calculating stationary diabatic states is suggested which makes use of the formal definition of those states, i.e., they minimize the radial nonadiabatic...

It is shown that laser evaporation of a solid target followed by adiabatic expansion can be used to produce cold beams of neutral small open shell molecules. LIF is applied to detect Cull (X~S), CH (X2II), Sill (X2II), CuO (X2II), and FeO (XSA). A production of 109-+ ~ molecules/sr in a single pulse is obtained for Sill. For a copper target, the optical emission of the jet plume is discussed.

We consider the applicability of the isentropic, adiabatic gas dynamical model of plume expansion for laser ablation in vacuum. We show that the model can be applied to ionized plumes and estimate the upper electron temperature limit on the applicability of the isentropic approximation. The model predictions are compared with Langmuir ion probe measurements and deposition profiles obtained for ...

Abstract Proton emission from deformed nuclei is described within the non-adiabatic weak coupling model which takes into account the coupling to γ-vibrations around the axially-symmetric shape. The coupled equations are derived within the Gamow state formalism. A new method, based on the combination of the R-matrix theory and the oscillator expansion technique, is introduced that allows for a s...

This talk is a status report on our study of quantum transport equations relevant for baryogenesis computations. Our main finding is that, as a consequence of localization in space, the quasiparticle picture of the plasma dynamics breaks down at first non-trivial order in gradient expansion. While in this talk we focus on bosons, we expect that a similar picture holds for fermions. We then argu...

Using a collection of 12 γ-ray burst (GRBs) sample and 186 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) data containing 157 gold and 29 silver set, we make constraints on the cosmological model with adiabatic matter creation, assuming a spatially flat universe. It is shown that the matter creation can also lead to accelerating expansion of the universe without a cosmological constant or any other dark energy co...

In this paper we give some ideas that can be useful to solve Schrodinger equations in the case when the Hamiltonian contains a large term. We obtain an expansion of the solution in reciprocal powers of the large coupling constant. The procedure followed consists in considering that the small part of the Hamiltonian engenders a motion adiabatic to the motion generated by the large part of the same.

We consider an ideal gas of massive hadrons in thermal and chemical equilibrium. The gas expands longitudinally in an adiabatic way. This evolution for a baryonless gas reduces to a hydrodynamic expansion. Cooling process is parametrized by the sound velocity. The sound velocity is temperature dependent and is strongly influenced by hadron mass spectrum. ∗Work partially supported by the Polish ...

A method is proposed to cool down atoms in a harmonic trap without phase-space compression as in a perfectly slow adiabatic expansion, i.e., keeping the same populations of instantaneous levels in the initial and final traps, but in a much shorter time. This may require that the harmonic trap become transiently an expulsive parabolic potential. The cooling times achieved are shorter than those ...

The limits imposed by the classical cosmological tests on closed and open FRW universes driven by adiabatic matter creation are investigated. Exact expressions for the lookback time, age of the universe, luminosity distance, angular diameter, and galaxy number counts versus redshift are derived and their meaning discussed in detail. An interesting consequence of these cosmological models is the...
