Serum alkaline phosphatase estimations by the Selected Method [Clin. Chem. 21, 1988 (1975)] are very sensitive to small errors in the wavelength setting of the spectrophotometer. With a setting error as small as 3 nm, results can be too low by as much as 23%. The product of the reaction, 4-nitrophenol, can be prepared in very pure form and can be used to check both the wavelength and absorbance...

Purified 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D)/(alpha)-ketoglutarate dioxygenase (TfdA) was shown to use 4-nitrophenoxyacetic acid (K(infm) = 0.89 (plusmn) 0.04 mM, k(infcat) [catalytic constant] = 540 (plusmn) 10 min(sup-1)), producing intensely yellow 4-nitrophenol. This reagent was used to develop a rapid, continuous, colorimetric assay for the detection of TfdA and analogous activities in ...

We study absorption and emission spectra of optically nonlinear single crystals of 3-(1,1-dicyanoethenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (DCNP) at 5 K. We argue that fluorescence has a complex origin, it is emitted from the excitonic band, with the bottom at ∼18,115 cm(-1), and from trap states, and the two main traps have depths of ∼875 and ∼2465 cm(-1). The excitonic origin of the emission ...

nano-zno was employed for the adsorption of 4c2np from aqueous solutions in batch equilibriumexperiments to investigate its adsorption properties. the quantity of 4c2np adsorbed onto nano- znosurface was measured by uv-vis spectrophotometer. the effects of contact time, adsorbent dose, ph, andinitial concentration of 4c2np were investigated. the adsorption found to be strongly influenced by all...

Objective: Although it was shown that p-nitrophenol is anti-androgenic in vivo, the molecular details of how p-nitrophenol inhibits AR signaling are still not quite clear. In this report, we want to figure out this signaling in human cells. Methods: (I) Cell viability assay; (II) endogenous expression of androgen-activated genes; (III) expression, and purification of the FK1 domain of FKBP51; (...

Developing highly efficient and recyclable catalysts for the transformation of toxic organic contaminates still remains a challenge. Herein, Titanium Carbide (Ti₃C₂) MXene modified by alkali treatment process was selected as a support (designated as alk-Ti₃C₂X₂, where X represents the surface terminations) for the synthesis of Pd/alk-Ti₃C₂X₂. Results show that the alkali treatment leads to the ...

The fabrication of nanostructured bimetallic materials through electrochemical routes offers the ability to control the composition and shape of the final material that can then be effectively applied as (electro)-catalysts. In this work a clean and transitory hydrogen bubble templating method is employed to generate porous Cu-Au materials with a highly anisotropic nanostructured interior. Sign...

We report the 4.39-Mb draft genome sequence of the 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol-degrading bacterium Arthrobacter sp. strain SJCon, isolated from a pesticide-contaminated site. The draft genome sequence of strain SJCon will be helpful in studying the genetic pathways involved in the degradation of several aromatic compounds.
