A strategy for the synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted indole derivatives based on an intramolecular carbopalladation-anion capture cascade has been developed, wherein construction of the pyrrole ring and functionalisation of the indole C2 and C3 positions were achieved by extensive use of palladium(0)-catalysed coupling reactions.

On the basis of exhaustive literature review, it has been found that benzothiazole derivatives have good potential to exhibit anticancer activity15-17. So the present study involves the synthesis of 2,6-disubstituted benzothiazole followed by preliminary cytotoxicity screening against three human cancer cell lines( MCF-7, HeLa and MG63) using MTT assay at 48 h of exposure.

Trifluoromethyl propargylamines react with various azide derivatives to afford 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles through a Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. The reaction is catalyzed by a Cu(I) species in acetonitrile, and the corresponding products are obtained in good yields. This process thus offers an entry to new trifluoromethyl peptidomimetics as interesting scaffolds.

The diastereo- and enantioselective direct vinylogous Michael addition reaction of γ-substituted butenolides to 2-enoylpyridines has been achieved. A range of γ,γ-disubstituted butenolide derivatives, bearing two consecutive tri- and tetrasubstituted stereogenic centers, were readily obtained in good yields with excellent stereoselectivities (up to >99 : 1 dr and >99% ee).

[structure: see text] A series of 6,13-disubstituted pentacenes, in which the substituents are functionalized ethyne units, were synthesized and analyzed by X-ray crystallography.
