The BioBreeding- Diabetes Prone (BB-DP) rat spontaneously develops an autoimmune diabetic syndrome that is dependent on the RT1 u Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) haplotype and homozygosity for an allele at the Lymphopenia (Lyp) locus.
