Regioselective synthesis of highly functionalized pyranopyrazoles was achieved in excellent yield from phenyl pyrazolone, substituted aromatic aldehyde with nitroketene-N,S-acetal in the presence of indium trichloride as a versatile catalyst under reflux condition in ethanol-water mixture.
