[ 1 ] - Microwave Assisted Rapid, Efficient and Chemoselective Deoxygenation of Sulfoxides to Thioethers Using Zn / AcOH on Silica Gel

Zn/AcOH on silica gel converts a range of structurally different sulfoxides to their corresponding thioethers in excellent yields under microwave irradiation. It has been found that chemoselective deoxygenation of sufoxides can be achieved in the presence of other reducible functional groups such as acetals, acids, amides,   esters, ketones and nitriles.  

[ 2 ] - A Solvent Free Route to the Synthesis of Diaryl Sulfoxides

The solvent free route for the synthesis of diaryl sulfoxides from arenes and thionyl chloride in the presence of Lewis acids such as aluminum chloride and ferric chloride on silica gel are described.

[ 3 ] - Microwave Assisted Selective Synthesis of four Chromanones Via Biscyclization Method in the Presence of Polyphosphoric Acid and Crystal Structure Determination of Their Dicarboxylic Acids

Microwave irradiation is used in the synthesis of four tricyclic chromanones 11-14. The chromanone 14 and 12 are selectively formed thermally and under microwave in the presence of polyphosphoric acid (PPA) from the same dicarboxylic acid 9, respectively. [ 4 ] - "One Pot" Synthesis of 1,5-Diaza-2,3,6,7-Thetrahydro-4-Methyl-Phenanthrene-4,8-Dione From Corresponding Bis-Beta-Amino Acid

The cyclization of b-anilino propionic acids in the presence of polyphosphoric acid (PPA) afforded the 2,3-Dihydroquinoline-4-(1H)-ones in good yields. N,N'-bis(2-carboxyethyl)-4-methyl-1,2-diaminobenzene (7) is cyclized under this condition to produce the 1,5-diaza-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-4-methyl-pheranthrene-4,8-dione(bis-quinolone) (8).

[ 5 ] - Synthesis of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-Octahydro-9-Ethoxy-10-Hydroxy-1-Anthracenone[OEHA]

Anthralin and some of its derivatives have implied antipsoriatic effect in clinical and pharmaceutical studies. Anthralin is synthesized by different strategies. In this work we report the synthesis of "OEHA" as a precursor of another biological active compound.

The synthesis of 1,5-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone (17); (1,5-DHA) was accomplished during, attempts towards the synthesis one of its derivatives called anthralin (1,8-dihydroxy-9-anthrone) which is known as an antipsoriasis drug since 1916 [1].
