Validating the Multicultural Curriculum Pattern based on the Foucault\'s Views in the Senior School

چکیده مقاله:

Purpose: Due to the existence of different cultures, it is necessary to design a multicultural curriculum. Therefore, the aim of this study was validating the multicultural curriculum pattern based on the Foucault's views in the senior school. Methodology: This study was a descriptive-survey from correlation type. The research population was teachers of senior school of Semnan province with number 11,024 people (5,692 men and 5,332 women). The sample size was determined according to Cochran's formula 360 people who were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method. The research tool was the researcher-made questionnaire of the multicultural curriculum based on the Foucault's views (70 items in 4 dimensions of goal, content, educational strategies and evaluation strategies) and its validity and reliability was evaluated as suitable. Data were analyzed with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods in SPSS-21 and Smart PLS-3 software. Findings: The findings showed that the multicultural curriculum based on the Foucault's views has 4 dimensions of goal (with 24 items and three components of knowledge, attitude and skill), content (with 16 items and three components of knowledge, attitude and skill), educational strategies (with 18 items and three components of knowledge, attitude and skill) and evaluation strategies (with 12 items and three components of knowledge, attitude and skill) that the factor load of the items, content validity ratio, content validity index and the average variance extracted of the dimensions were higher than 0.50 and the reliability of the dimensions was calculated by Cronbach's alpha method and a combination higher than 0.70. Also, the multicultural curriculum pattern based on the Foucault's views in the senior school had a good fit and the path coefficient of the pattern on all four dimensions of goal, content, educational strategies and evaluation strategies was significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: Due to the findings of this study, the multicultural curriculum pattern based on the Foucault's views in the senior school was valid, and educational specialists and planners can use this pattern in curriculum design and implementation.
