The study of General practitioners’ views on the content of composed programs in Zahedan

Introduction. Continuous education is an undeniable necessity. Nowadays, because of rapid advance of sciences, the importance of updating graduates knowledge is obvious to everyone. The present research aims at collecting general practitioners’ views about the content of composed programs in the city of Zahedan. Methods. The present descriptive study was performed using questionnaires including 29 questions for three composed programs. In the year 2000,156 general practitioners were selected to attend three composed continuous medical education programs(C-CME programs). Results. Most of the responders told that the C-CME programs fulfilled their needs in low to medium level. Most of them preferred the method named “Approach to case series” rather than the traditional methods (e.g. lectures ) for C-CME programs. They wanted more attention to be paid for their opinions and needs to select the contents and topics. Most of the responders told that the contents and time of C-CME programs only fulfilled their needs in low to medium level. Most of them needed practical and applied topics. More than 50% of the responders believed that the C-CME programs were not useful and didn’t have any positive aspect and said that their participation was merely for getting more points. They preferred these programs to be facultative not obligatory. Conclusion. With regard to the results of the present research, the following factors should be taken into consideration: to select the subjects with accuracy, to set aside appropriate time for each topic, to put priority on indigenous and seasonal diseases, to take advantage of the need assessment to select the subjects, to keep the participants informed about the materials and resources in use.
