The effect of self-care method temperaments modification on Quality of Life in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Introduction: Noticing to high prevalence and complications rates of Diabetes Mellitus and its effect on quality of life, and considering low quality of life, can cause low self-care and increase complications among these patients. The goal of this study is the effect of self-care method temperaments modification on Quality of Life in Type 2 Diabetic Patients. Method: This quasi-experimental study, 110 type 2 diabetic patients were selected by available sampling method, and then based on the table of random numbers, all people were randomly divided into two groups, experimental  and control. After the willingness of people to participate in the study and obtaining informed consent, demographic information questionnaire, quality of life by patients and diagnosis of temperament by a traditional medicine doctor were done before the intervention. In the test group, 4 sessions of self-care training were organized by the method of mood correction for 45 minutes for each patient. In the control group, there was routine treatment without any intervention. Then, the quality of life questionnaire was completed again by the research sample patients 3 months after the intervention. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 22 software.and chi-square, paired t and independent t tests at a significant level (p<0.05). Results: Before intervention there was no significant difference between the mean of quality of life in to experimental (83/2±11/9) and (85±9/4) control groups (P= 0.194), but after intervention there was a significant difference between the mean of quality of life into experimental (87/7±11/3) and (85/1±9/5) control groups (P= 0.044). There was no significant difference between the mean of quality of life in control group before and after intervention (P= 0.244). Conclusion: The quality of life of type 2 diabetic patients in the method of self-care method temperaments modification has increased compared to the control group.
