The effect of a combined training course on the expression of ABCA5 gene of white blood cells in middle-aged men after cardiac bypass surgery

Objectives: Cardiovascular disease is one of the most prevalent diseases and one of the leading causes of death in the world that should be considered for treatment. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of a combination training course on ABCA5 gene expression in middle-aged men after coronary artery bypass grafting. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 26 middle-aged men participated after coronary artery bypass grafting and were randomly divided into two groups of combined exercise and control. The combined exercise program, including resistance-aerobic exercises, was performed for eight weeks (three sessions per week). During this period, the control group had no activity. Blood samples and anthropometric measurements before and 48 hours after the end of the research protocol were taken as fasting for 10-12 hours during two stages of blood sampling from the research groups. Dependent statistical test was used to examine within-group changes and independent t-test was used to examine out-group changes. The values ​​were analyzed by SPSS software version 21 with a significance level of less than 0.05. Results: The pre-test results showed that there was no difference between the groups, but the results showed that after eight weeks of combined training in the experimental group, ABCA5 gene expression increased significantly compared to before training (P = 0.001). Also, a significant difference was observed between the experimental group and the control group (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Based on the results, it seems that combined exercise as a stimulant to reduce cholesterol levels by increasing the expression of ABCA5 gene leads to an increase in endothelial cell health-related factors. Use as an appropriate exercise program to improve physiological status in patients with coronary artery bypass grafting.
