Role of Wearable Technology in the Diagnosis and Prevention of COVID-19

Nowadays, the role of technology innovations in precaution, early diagnosis, and treatment is not deniable due to the increase in various types of electronics. Additionally, increasing costs of medical services and lack of medical expertise and specialists in remote regions double the necessity of using technology in this field. Wearable technology comprising a large group of worn gadgets, including watches, glasses, and bras, is becoming a total revolution assisting our daily life. In this correspondence, our main aim is to discuss the applications of wearable technologies in the healthcare realm, its potentials to help us combat COVID-19, and the challenges. A category of diagnostic wearable devices according to COVID-19 symptoms and body reactions is presented due to the following: respiratory tracking devices; heart-rate tracking devices; temperature tracking devices; breathing/cough monitoring devices; and disquiet/depression disorder treatment units.
